December is tiptoeing closer… which means it’s almost time for our Activity Advent Calendar. A little tradition that has filled our home with giggles, cosy moments, and Christmas magic for years.

Every day holds a tiny surprise: something simple we can do together. Most of it costs nothing at all, twinkly-light walks, making paper snowflakes, baking, getting cosy on the sofa watching a christmas film, warming up with a hot chocolate, even writing Christmas cards and posting through letter boxes of friends and neighbours!

Nothing fancy… just memory-making in its purest form.

I started this when my children were tiny and life felt non-stop at Christmas. No matter how busy the day had been, we always had one small moment waiting for us, a moment to breathe, to laugh, to be together. And honestly? Those are the memories that stuck.

It’s that time of year again, present-wrapping season! As a parent of four, I like to have everything organised before December hits, because December is for making memories… and for treating myself to a little gift shopping too.

Around here, gift piles come in all shapes and sizes. Some presents are brand new, others are preloved treasures, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that they’re chosen with love and that they’ll be enjoyed and used.

And just a little reminder to any parents who need to hear it:
Our children don’t need the exact same number of gifts or the same amount of money spent on each of them. Fair doesn’t always mean equal, it means giving them what they will love, use, and appreciate. That is fairness because it comes from care.

I won’t be giving away any of my own children’s surprises, but if you’re struggling for ideas this year, just drop me a message. I’m more than happy to send over a few links.

We’ve tested out some of the best toys of the year, and I’ll always tell you honestly whether they’re worth the money.

Today we brought our face-painting, biodegradable glitter, and festive crafts to for , and what a magical, snowy morning it’s been!

We switched things up with cosy floor-based crafting in their gorgeous new venue, giving little ones the space to explore, create, and simply be little.

From scribbly marks with crayons and paint sticks to building their own mini wreaths, the children were busy developing their motor skills without even realising it, because that’s the magic of play!

For our preschoolers, we kept activities small, simple, and super engaging so they could go at their own pace.

We know that from experience, if they’re enjoying it, don’t stop them! Don’t stress, don’t rush, and don’t ask them to finish before they’re ready, play is learning, and they know exactly what they need.

And every child left with extra crafts to take home and continue the fun whenever the mood strikes.

What an amazing day celebrating with our full-on museum takeover at the Thackeray Medical Museum!

This event was all about supporting parents and their little adventurers aged 0–5, those magical early years where curiosity, movement, and play help build everything from motor skills to confidence.

Our room had everything: colourful crafts perfect for strengthening little hands, and BIG Play fun with ; brilliant 2D and 3D building blocks that are perfect for tiny hands developing coordination, creativity and problem-solving skills.

And for the older ones, face painting and biodegradable glitter tattoos brought all the sparkle.

Huge shout-out to everyone who splashed through the rain to join us. You made the takeover a total blast, and every moment of play helped build those all-important early foundations!

Today is , a day that will always hold a special place in my heart.

For those who don’t know, I’m a mum of four beautiful children, and nearly nine years ago, my precious babies number 3 and 4, my twins, arrived far too early at just 32 weeks.

I can still remember those first moments… the fear, the uncertainty, the tiny nappies, the tubes, the quiet beeps of the NICU.

Nothing prepares you for watching your babies fight battles before they’ve even learned to cry. But nothing prepares you for their strength either, or the strength you discover within yourself.

With twins, you learn to celebrate each milestone in its own special way, every gram gained, every steady breath, every step forward, no matter how different their paths may be.

You discover that each baby has their own journey, their own pace, and their own quiet victories.

And through it all, you learn patience, strength, and love deeper than anything you imagined.

As this week is also Baby Week, it feels like the right time to share our story.

My twins may have been born early, but they came into this world with a determination that still shines in them today.

Nearly nine years later, they are loud, funny, full of personality, and every day, I’m reminded of how far they’ve come and how incredibly lucky we are.

To all the premature babies, the parents holding onto hope beside incubators, and the amazing teams who care for our tiny fighters!

Special thanks to the wonderful mums we shared our Neonatal journeys with at LGI and St James Hospital. The guilty giggles and shared moments helped us get through those first weeks and months with our newborns. We couldn’t have done it without you.
