Gorgeous feedback from last month’s wedding with Hannah and Andy ❤️
This feedback brings tears to my eyes..and big joy to my heart
We knew Amanda was the right person & celebrant for us after our introductory meeting.
Amanda is just brilliant, she made us feel at ease straight away & it was an easy choice.
Through the whole process from the type of ceremony we wanted to the writing of the vows to the day of the wedding & the amazing ceremony that Amanda put together for us, we couldn’t have asked for anything better.

It felt through the whole process from meeting Amanda to our incredible day that she was always attentive, genuinely interested in not only Hannah & I but also our families & friends. It always came across that she had really listened to everything we had told her & really read & understood what we were all about & what we wanted on our big day.

We can’t recommend Amanda highly enough, if you are looking for someone to bring genuine fun & laughter but also the sentiment & importance of the day & to give an incredible ceremony then don’t hesitate to get in touch with her.

What a wonderful day!

Yesterday I had the honour of officiating Hannah and Andy’s wedding ceremony at the beautiful

🎉🎉The whole ceremony was filled with love ❤️

We added a hand-fasting ritual to this ceremony to link in with Andy’s Scottish roots.
Loved the kilts on the groomsmen!

I had to hold it together at the start, Hannah took my breath away walking down the aisle and there was so much love and emotion.

Absolutely brilliant!

Hannah and Andy loved the ceremony and I love love loved doing it ! ❤️❤️

I was at a festival once, the sun was shining and I was swaying to the sound of The Cuban Brothers. At the end of their set they issued the above guidance for a happy life to the joyous crowd.
At our festival wedding, our best man used these statements at the end of his speech as advice to Paul.
I think this is life advice, but fantastic ' rules ' of a marriage.

There is so much to love about being a wedding celebrant. The most heart-in-mouth moment is when you have crafted the ceremony, hoping the couple will cherish every word. Striking the perfect balance of humor, emotion, and sentiment is key. Then, when you’re
ready, you read the ceremony aloud to the couple. It’s a bit nerve-wracking, and you hope it’s just right.

Last week, when I read aloud to my couple, they laughed at the places I had hoped they would, emotions were felt where they should be, and I got the thumbs up. ‘Don’t change a thing!’ - Perfect...they said. That’s such a heartwarming feeling. The couple doesn’t
see it again until the big day when it comes to life, 100x magnified, surrounded by their guests. It’s such a beautiful process.

The excitement of the ceremony starts long before the big day. Can’t wait to deliver this one next month!”

Handfasting Ceremony❤️

At one of my upcoming weddings the couple have chosen a Handfasting ritual.

It's a beautiful element to add, as is also an opportunity to include close friends or family in part of the ceremony.

Originating from ancient Celtic traditions, Handfasting symbolises the union of two souls in a bond of love and commitment. 🍃 During the ceremony, the couple's hands are gently tied together with beautifully woven cord or ribbons representing the intertwining of their lives.

🤲💖 This symbolic gesture not only binds them in the physical sense but also serves as a profound expression of unity and the promise to support each other through life's twists and turns.

It's a moment of connection which can be between the couple, or family can add more cloth, ribbon or twine. This makes it a colourful and meaningful ritual for the wedding.

I love rituals which symbolise entwining, I have a fabulous one I created which symbolises entwining roots.
Really looking forward to officiating the handfasting at this wedding.

“Very, very excited that I’ll be officiating the first (official) wedding in March! It’s such an honor to be chosen, and I’m thrilled to create something super special for this gorgeous couple. After our initial discovery call, where we ensure we’re a good match and they feel in safe hands, the celebrant receives the yay or nay. Then the magic begins!

The process starts with the couple receiving a questionnaire packed with a multitude of questions that help me write their unique story and ceremony. Once I receive their responses, my head is filled with ‘them.’ Every walk, every spare moment, their story is in my mind—where to add humor, where to infuse sentiment, which parts of their journey fit best where, and what ritual will work best.

It’s a beautiful process, and I become attached to the couple, much like a novelist with the characters in their story. The difference? Mine are real people, and the story is real, brought to life in a magical way. Eric (my dog) and I will be doing lots of thinking and imagining on our walks over the next couple of weeks. He needs sticks thrown to think, and I just need the space and the main characters. Exciting times ahead!”

Do you know your Love Language?

A decade or more ago I first discovered Love Languages.
There is a book The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman and a very cool Love Languages test you do on line...just type in Love Languages Quiz to see which Love Language you are.

It's fascinating to discover your own Love Language and even more beneficial to discover your partners Love Language.

If you are a ' quality time ' love language and your partner lavishes you in gifts because they are a ' receiving gifts ' love language...it's easy to see where confusion can arise.

I had a partner who was very much ' acts of service ' so was always doing things. Which was lovely but one of my strong languages is ' quality time '.

This meant while they were out cutting the lawn or fixing things...I'd be thinking how I wish they would just spend some more time with me.

For every partnership I highly recommend taking the Love Language quiz...it's enlightening and is a huge help in understanding each other and learning how to speak each others language...the language of love.

I also use this in my coaching with managers to learn more about their teams etc...for best mates to find out more about each other.

But No.1 Reason - learning to speak and recieve your partners love language.

Christmas Eve....my Wedding Anniversary🥳
3 years ago I officially said I do...

It was during lock down and a last minute decision to tie the knot on Christmas Eve as our wedding had been postponed in December.

We wanted to be Mr&Mrs and we made it happen.

The registrars at the registry office were wonderful and made it as special as it could be.

But it was quick! Registrars do the official legal part of a wedding and it is about 5-10mins!!

Celebrants are for couples who want their ceremony to be super special and a big part of the day.
Our wedding will be remembered for when it was, as much as what it was.
Nobody was allowed to travel, we were going into full lock down 2 days later. But it did mean our local friends could wander down to the Green where Paul and I had our first meet and raise a flask of mulled wine for half an hour.
This also meant I could wear wedding wellies which are still my favourite footwear!
Every wedding is special, totally unique and memorable for many different reasons.
I’m so looking forward to 2024 and helping couples bring their dream wedding ceremonies to life...not because of when it is...but because of what it is. THE LOVE STORY...

Wedding speeches and ceremonies...

When planning a speech always start with the end in mind and this important question.

How do you want your audience to feel at the end?

I’ve been a coach and speaker for years and although I’d always start with the end in mind. In some scenarios the question may be different.
For example as a coach running a masterclass the question may be what would I like them to do at the end?

With my retreats and writing wedding ceremonies it’s totally different...it starts by hooking in and imaging the feeling you would like everyone to have during and after the event.

If anyone suffers from speech nerves this is also a great place to start...imagining it’s just after the event and you can hear people saying....Oh Wow that was wonderful...Oh wow I loved that.

It’s hard to get nervous thinking about something great. Also this question will help you create your speech.

I have seen some best-mans speeches where the best-man hasn’t asked themselves this question...they have thought...what do I want to say.

Anyone can stand up and say what they have to say but to create genuine heart centred connection and emotion for the audience...there is only one question.

How do I want them to feel???

Engagement Season....💍

Apparently 40% of engagements take place over the Christmas and New Year holiday!🥳

I’m not sure quite why that is...being around family, cosy nights in, the love and warmth of the festive season?

All engagements and proposals are beautiful and special.

One of my favourites is my friend Nikki’s proposal.

Nikki and Tony had been on a beautiful beach holiday and had a wonderful time.

A few months later Tony invited Nikki to look through the holiday pictures with him.

They looked through the pictures and remembered teh beautiful holiday.

One picture Nikki hadn’t been before.

A picture of Will You Marry Me written in the sand on the beach they visited each day.

How beautiful. Tony had written it and on holiday and taken a picture always knowing he was going to propose later!

Cool and ridiculously calm!

My proposal was a little different from that I’ll save it for another post.
