I am a bride to be myself with a passion for the wedding industry. At the moment I have my own blog set up where I am recording some of my planning memories and offering some advice for new brides. Behind the scenes 🤍

A lot of people will ask me why they need a planner, and what I do on the day of the wedding itself.

To be honest, you’ll never notice the things I do on the day itself, as 90% of my work has been done in the run up to your day. Ensuring everything is streamlined so it can go as close to the plan as possible 😉

On the day itself, I coordinate with your suppliers, ensuring everyone knows which stage of the day we’re at. My jobs range from keeping in check with your caterers, fixing veils, attaching buttonholes, coordinating guests for photos, helping with power cuts (🙈) and even emptying bins… the list is endless.

But what I love most of all, is seeing all the suppliers you choose come together and work aimlessly to make your day the best it can possibly be.

I got to work alongside this year for the first time and I hope it’s not the last… such a breeze to work with 📸

Mr & Mrs Johannesen 🤍

What can I say about these two, the minute I met Laura & her mum at a wedding exhibition, I clicked with them and I really hoped I’d get to see them again.

Fast forward a few months later and I did! From then, I met with these two to help give them some guidance in the run up to their special day.

Laura & Oli wanted a relaxed day, filled with friends, family, laughter and love. And they got exactly that. They were smiling the ENTIRE day, no word of a lie!

Mr & Mrs J, the pleasure was all mine.

Here’s to love, laughter, and happily ever after. 🤍

The early days…

One of the first and many questions I get as a wedding planner is how did you get into it… so here goes!

My first experience of weddings was when I got my first waitressing job at 14 in one of the most popular venues local to me, it was a bit of a mission to see who’d be assigned the ‘top table’ and on the few occasions I got to help, I loved it.

That’s when I got the bug.

And then, in 2008, I fell in love with these brown doors. Do you know them? They belong to Haddo, where I worked during my time at college as a functions assistant. Here I got really ‘hands on’ with the wedding running, sorting trains and fluffing underskirts as brides made their way up the aisle.

This place was an escape for me and my eldest during a relentless lockdown in 2020...

Fast forward another ten years, after a job in the oil & gas industry. I did my accreditation in wedding planning and events management and landed a job in another popular north east wedding venue.

It was during my time here where I discovered that really what couples needed was a helping hand, and a little guidance behind the scenes.

Most didn’t know the timings of the day, or how to plan out your day to maximise time with guests, for example.

A lot of the couples I work with, their guests would never even know they’ve met a coordinator, because often I help you in the early days, sending you on your way so YOU can do the planning and enjoy YOUR day, without the stress and worry of, “are we doing this right”.

Sometimes with hire only venues, I’ll be there just for extra support on the day if there aren’t staff supplied, and I love that part too.

Weddings are a lot, and it takes a lot behind the scenes but I really do get such a buzz on the day. Each wedding I do is special to me, and I like to see myself as gaining friends, rather than clients. ❤️
