Hayseed Dixie, Duke Special and Gareth Dunlop are amongst those lined up to perform at this summer’s Harvest
music festival at Grey Abbey House on Saturday 31st August, bringing a dynamic and ambitious mix of popular music
to Ards. The family friendly music festival is the centre-piece of Ards Borough Council’s 1613 event programme, which marks
the 400th anniversary of the area first receiving a R
oyal Charter. The Harvest music stage will showcase a range of established, as well as up and coming performers, including
Hayseed Dixie, Duke Special, Gareth Dunlop, Belfast Community Gospel Choir and Farriers, with the mystery
headline act still to be announced, while an enchanted garden will entertain and amaze children and adults alike. A bazaar area will be specially created for this novel new event, including a festival bar, food avenue and craft
village, with magic shows, circus skills, and face painting for kids. Speaking about the upcoming event the Mayor of Ards, Councillor Stephen McIlveen, said:
“This is an excellent line-up – with more to come! - and where better to feature an event being held to mark
400 years of Ards first receiving ‘Borough’ status, than Grey Abbey House, an estate created by Hugh
Montgomery, whose settlement of the area was rewarded by the Charter, and whose descendants still live
there.
“This is a special event in a very unique venue, combining great music with great all-round family
entertainment and I look forward to welcoming the crowds to Greyabbey on Saturday 31 August”. With an array of acts already released and more still to be announced the festival is gearing up to be a day not to be
missed. Fans are advised to get in early and book their tickets because the festival is sure to be a sell out! The festival will take place on Saturday 31st August, 2pm-11pm.
