Wedding and Event Floristry supplying British grown sustainable flowers

We had a fun filled day filling this glorious Gothic Castle with our beautiful bee friendly blooms. We hope to showcase the very best of British floral design. Kim and I put our installation together using a combo or fresh floriferous bounty from the garden, which flowed into late season dried florals by Kim . We hoped to show how the same British flowers change through the late season, beautiful fresh of dried . If you are are near Twickenham this weekend, go take a 👀. The Strawberry Hill House flower festival. On until Sunday .

Agastach a truly Bee-friendly plant. It’s a perennial and has tall multiple liquorice scented flowers and leaves from August until the frosts. Quite happy in poor soil, but does like the sun. I have some growing on two sites . Some on a clay patch and some on a very dry, sun baked sandy bank . Both in the middle of a field. Perfectly happy holding off the nettles and weeds and I never water it. The local bee life very happy and lots of different wild bees visiting to forage . I cut it regularly and it just throws up more flowers. Lasts ages in a vase, and fills a room with its delicious spicy scent. If you have a sunny spot in the garden and want to stick something there to look after itself and hope to watch bees for hours this time of year … try it . If it’s happy it will come back year after year. also available in pink and white shades .

Feeling gorgeous today! Nothing like a bucket of freshly gathered garden flowers to pick me up! This is me… dishevelled hair and no make up, but in a great mood after a productive week of picking so many flowers with some help from my amazing flower friend Kim . Plus it rained last night too. 🎉🎉. Out picking for flower show this afternoon.

Cafe au lait had to be the show stopper in Sophie’s bouquet. There was quite a lot of competition from the wizard of oz and Evelyn dahlias too. This is a bridal bouquet with the best of the late summer garden pink blush favourites. Big congratulations to Sophie and Zach who married yesterday.

Lilac a seasonal treat for a few short weeks in May.
As it’s tight little buds gently open releasing the most wonderful scent. It really is all you need in any vase to fill a room with joy.
Pick early in the morning before the sun hits it’s branches .
Put straight into a bucket of water and leave for a few hours somewhere cool. I usually pick off all the leaves to allow it to hydrate properly.
For arranging cut the stems to the length needed for your vessel.
Dip the ends in boiling water for 20 seconds and arrange into fresh water.
Change the water every couple of days if possible .
Happy Saturday!

And after what seems the longest wait ever...
Spring has finally arrived. The blossoms are bursting from their branches in an array of petally pastel perfection. Gosh it feels great to get the snips out again. Shame about the bitingly cold wind this afternoon . Happy Easter everyone.

Muscari or grape hyacinth are such a perfect addition to a bee- friendly garden here in Britain. They are a precious food source for emerging bees in early spring. Their nectar packed buds are the perfect size for a honey to forage from. If you have a honey to buy for this weekend, perhaps buy a preplanted bowl or basket of these spring pretties from your local garden centre ? Far more seasonal and sustainable than red roses that have been flown across the globe and packed with toxic chemicals. You can plant the bulbs in the garden and like the bees they will return every year, keeping the love growing.... 🐝🐝💕💙
