A week today away!!! Friday 7th June, we welcome extraordinarily talented singer songwriter Dan Whitehouse who will perform with us for the first time. Currently on tour, we are just one of three special gigs to which he is bringing Gustaf Ljunggren, composer and multi-instrumentalist, who is Swedish and living in Denmark: suitably Scandinavian for our Scandinavian setting, the Finnish Church Lontoon merimieskirkko!
We also announce a special addition to their "Night of Glass": award-winning poet Jenny Mitchell will be reading poems by way of prelude.
Remember the show starts at 7pm, doors open at 6.30. More info here:

With thanks to From The Whitehouse!
Olga Glazova at Tuned In London
This is what we were treated to when we opened the new season, and is even before Olga Glazova had played a note of gusli and harp. Just the backdrop of dappled sunlight and her voice. Photographs to follow.
Remember on Friday 7th June we welcome Dan Whitehouse and Gustaf Ljunggren for their Night of Glass. More details:
Dan Whitehouse - A Night of Glass with Gustaf Ljunggren at Tuned In London
Olga Glazova, at just 30 years old, has over 30 awards to her name and is recognised as a leading expert of the gusli. Her 30-stringed gusli is one she had specially made for her. On harp and voice too, and accompanied by a surprise guest (another maestro!), she opens our latest season. We open you can join us at the Finnish Church Lontoon merimieskirkko for a magical, unplugged performance from 7pm tonight.
Lemon & Paice Band - Happy Christmas (War Is Over)
Hope you’ve had a Happy Christmas. Here’s another snippet from the lovely Lemon & Paice gig at Lontoon merimieskirkko earlier this month. Singer songwriter Lucinda Sieger graciously accepted the impromptu invitation to step up to the mic. A spot of wishful thinking in the words of John Lennon & Yoko Ono.
The Lemon + Paice Band performed their album title track Break In the Clouds beautifully on Thursday night!!
A special invitation… and a special guest… Who will the Omar Ríos Trio be inviting as a special guest?! And have you got your tickets yet? Don’t hang about…! We’ll be live-streaming too. Tickets for in person and livestream here: Omar Rios Trio hosted by Listen to the World and Tuned In London
This Thursday night 28th Sep at 7.30pm we will be treated to something SUPER SPECIAL and this video gives you just a little flavour of what happens when the four guitarists that are Gerardo Villar y Los Aguirre come together with one of Argentina's finest vocalists, MARTIN ALVARADO... This is partly from a live radio performance earlier this year at La2x4, Argentina's top tango radio station and there are extracts from a live performance of folk song La Pulpera de Santa Lucia given last year at Teatro del Municipio de Lomas de Zamora , Buenos Aires. So Buenos Aires is coming to Bermondsey, well and truly.

A little snippet - not yet of the music - but of Phaxsi Coca speaking, introducing SUMAQ AYLLU - Sagrada Familia’s version of Charagua by Victor Jara.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the killing of this great songwriter, but we were gathered to celebrate Midsummer, through the incredible connectivity with the Earth and the Sun that their music and their playing provides. Just the morning before, Phaxsi had greeted the sun at dawn from Stonehenge.
It turned out that we were also marking 15 years since she had arrived in the UK from Bolivia.
It is a significant milestone for this season: today La Chinganera Fabiola González is celebrating 15 years since she released her first album. She is in Concepción in Chile and we wish her a beautiful evening!
And oh my goodness I have just realised that whilst this series is nearly 12, I too arrived (back) in London 15 years go - in June too!!!
For the night owls amongst us, here’s a snippet from the beautiful concert we were treated to last Friday thanks to Cider With Kirsty, aka The Ciderhouse Rebellion and Kirsty Merryn. More to follow!
Two invitations late in the day but not too late…! Take your pic with the language: the Spanish version is in the previous post from the other side of town!
