As we prepare to close the gates on another spectacular pumpkin season we have a few tips for what to do with your pumpkins after Halloween! 🎃

Compost Your Pumpkin 🌱
Pumpkins are rich in nutrients that benefit the soil. Remove any candles or non-compostable decorations, then cut up the pumpkin into smaller pieces to help it break down faster in your compost bin.

Feed Wildlife 🐦
Place leftover pumpkin pieces in your garden to attract wildlife like birds, squirrels, and foxes. Just make sure it's free of paint or other non-edible decorations! Don't leave it on the ground as pumpkins can be poisonous to hedgehogs.

Create a Pumpkin Planter 🌸
Hollow out the pumpkin, add some soil, and plant flowers, succulents, or herbs in it. It makes for a beautiful seasonal planter that can go directly into the ground when it decomposes.

Make a Pumpkin Bird Feeder 🐦
Cut your pumpkin in half, empty it, and fill it with birdseed. Use string to hang it from a tree branch, creating a biodegradable bird feeder that the birds (and squirrels!) will love.

Eat them 😋
Squashes aren't just pretty, they are also really delicious! The Hokkaido and Munchkins we had in the market are particularly tasty varieties. Cut one of these into cubes, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of harissa powder. Roast at 200°C for about 25-30 minutes, or until tender. You can even leave the skin on!

Of all the requests I've had regarding the pumpkin patch, this has been my absolute favourite! Stevie from The Tack Cleaning Co got in touch to ask if she could organise a photo shoot for her Birthday with Blaze here. 😍 Stevie and Blaze have been together for 22 years and he has been ridden by 4 generations of the family! They came earlier this month accompanied by Martha Morgan Photography who took these stunning photos. I love how Blaze is just happy to be with Stevie and looks so happy and chilled in the photos! What a relationship!
