It's now one week since the last day of our Lichfield Arts Jazz & Blues Festival, and so here's some more pictures to show you what we got up to this time last week!
It was our Sunday Big Band Afternoon Special featuring the Walsall Jazz Orchestra, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Orchestra with special guests Steve Ajao and Paul Dunmall!

The critically-acclaimed jazz musician Dennis Rollins had sterling support from The Nick Dewhurst Band as he gave a fine display of musical invention at the Lichfield Jazz and Blues Festival.

The salsa band Del Camino played a set perfect for dancing when they played at Lichfield’s Jazz and Blues Festival.
On Saturday night at the Lichfield Arts Jazz & Blues Festival, we welcomed the one and only KING PLEASURE & THE BISCUIT BOYS to play in front of a fantastic audience at the Lichfield Guildhall! A superb evening was had, and thanks to everyone who came to make it a completely sold out evening!🥳

The acclaimed Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra opened the 2024 Lichfield Jazz and Blues Festival when they played at the Cathedral Hotel.

The Lichfield Arts Jazz & Blues Festival continued last night with a fabulous evening of Jazz & Funk, featuring Dennis Rollins with the Nick Dewhurst Band! We had a wonderful evening, and thanks again to everyone who came to support!
If you liked the music last night, then there's a good chance you'll enjoy all of the artists appearing on Sunday at the Guildhall including the Walsall Jazz Orchestra, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Orchestra, Svarc Hanley Longhawn Trio and the Emma Jonson Band!

Thursday evening at the Lichfield Jazz & Blues Festival welcomed the Latin sounds of Del Camino! It was a brilliant night of Salsa Music & Dancing at the Cathedral Hotel! Thanks as always to everyone who came and danced the night away 🕺💃
For all the dancers out there who enjoyed the salsa, maybe some of you might like to try your hand at our Lindy Hop sessions too?
In the Guildhall today we've got a Lindy Hop workshop provided by Jacqui Evans and Nigel Bell (from Lichfield Lindy) from 3-4pm, and a dance with live music featuring the The Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra & Swingtet from 4.30-6pm!

What a FANTASTIC start to the 2024 Lichfield Jazz & Blues Festival last night! The Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra - MYJO entertained us last night at the Cathedral Hotel with a superb programme of Big Band jazz that featured their wonderful young musicians!! Thanks to everyone who came to our first evening! 🎷🎺
The festival continues tonight with Del Camino providing us with an evening of Latin & Salsa music. The dance floor will be out, so bring your dancing shoes for a fine evening of Salsa dancing!! News hot off the press! We're delighted to say that early bird full festival tickets for our 2024 Lichfield Arts Jazz & Blues Festival are now on sale!
Our festival this year will run from Wednesday 5th June through to Sunday 9th June, and will once again feature a brilliant selection of artists!
Already confirmed for our festival this year is:
- A Big Band evening with the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra
- A repeat of our hugely successful salsa evening with Del Camino
- Special Guest Dennis Rollins with the funky Nick Dewhurst Band
- A Lindy Hop Dance with the Jim Wynn Swingtet

We've got some great monthly gigs coming up for you this year, and there's our annual Jazz & Blues Festival coming up in June as well which we're very much looking forward to!
Kicking things off though on Wednesday 17th January will be the Aidan Amann Trio featuring Nick Manz.
After a brilliant performance at last year’s festival, we’re delighted to welcome back the drummer led Aidan Amann Trio, which features Lichfield’s own star jazz pianist Nick Manz (BBC Young Jazz Musician Finalist in 2022). Formed of students and graduates of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the trio will be offering their take on the traditional jazz standards, original compositions, and an array of Scandinavian jazz music from the likes of Esbjörn Svensson and Lars Danielsson.

The weather was wet, wild and miserable outside Lichfield’s Cathedral Hotel. But as the rain hammered down, inside the hotel there was the warm glow of beautifully played jazz with the debut of the young band Abacus.
