It was a long drive (with a lot of reversing!) down some very narrow Devon lanes for the wedding of Elly and Andy this afternoon.

The sun held out and we held the ceremony outside, although it was so windy I had to keep my coat on to reduce the risk of a ‘Marilyn Monroe’ moment!

The guests might not have been able to wear their hats but the amazing views and the brilliant people made it all worth while.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Burton!

I was proud to officiate at the The Cosy Club’s first ever wedding this afternoon! Congratulations to Jemma and Nathan, possibly the most chilled out bride and groom on the planet! I could tell they and their friends were going to be having one heck of a party tonight!

Well done to all of the staff - I know there were some sleepless nights bringing the dream together!

An early wedding this morning at a woodland glade in the middle of the Dartington Estate near Dartmoor.

It was a magical setting for Dani and Adam to tie the knot (quite literally as I performed a handfasting!) but after a mile trek down a rocky path with a suitcase full of sound equipment, and 3 stinging nettle encounters, I really wish I’d worn flat shoes instead of the Essex white stilettos 😬💒👠

Wedding season is well and truly under way! Today’s setting was the beautiful Castle Hill in Filleigh where Gemma and Sam said, “I do” in a ceremony filled with laughter and stories.

It was so lovely to see all of their gorgeous guests arrive without coats and an umbrella! They are going to have the best party in the glorious North Devon sunshine!

Didn’t manage to get a photo of my bride and groom, Katy and Jack, this weekend as I had to make a swift getaway to rescue my car that had got stuck in the mud! After the wheels wouldn’t stop spinning, I had to roll down the hill (still in the car, not like a 5 year old on the school field) on to some wood chips and turn the wheel at the last moment. Felt like Vin Diesel!

Celebrant weddings can be in some interesting, remote places - the beauty is that the venue is entirely your choice. But we weren’t expecting storm Antoni on the first Saturday in August! And why, oh why, did I wear white shoes?!!!

I’ve been absolutely rubbish at updating Facebook lately but I’m breaking my hiatus to share this photo of Simon and Annabelle’s wedding last Saturday. They were just the most amazing couple to work with - and look at the spectacular natural backdrop provided by Burrow Farm Gardens. No dusty churches needed. Just family, friends and love 💕

THE LAST LAUGH: Gold Coast businesswoman Michelle Neumann has had the final say at her own funeral, arranging a plane towing a sassy banner to fly over mourners with her last message.

The daughter of former Gold Coast mayor Robert Neumann recently passed after losing her battle with cancer.

It was a scorcher today for Jess and Luke’s wedding in East Devon. The ceremony was rudely interrupted by a wasp taking a liking to the bride but like a true knight in shining armour, the groom caught it and sent it on its way!

We enjoyed some great guitar playing in a beautiful garden setting and we shared the humorous story of Luke’s quest for a wife and the eventual proposal before we ‘tied the knot’ with a traditional Celtic hand fasting.

Congratulations Jess and Luke!

Today is an exciting day for celebrants! The incredibly outdated Marriage Act of 1949 has been reviewed by the law commission and recommendations have been made to government.

A key recommendation is that it is the officiant that is licensed to wed, not the venue or the religion. So if couples want to get married in a beautiful place of their choosing, or just their back garden, they will no longer have to have a separate ceremony at the registry office to make it official.

This is the news celebrants have been long hoping for. Of course, the wheels of Westminster don't turn very quickly and the government has a year to respond to the report. Even after that, it could be a year or two before the law actually changes but it's coming! And it's very exciting!

Sophie and Ben’s family and friends really went above and beyond to help them celebrate their wedding on Saturday in Exmouth.

Hosted by Sophie’s Aunt in her wonderful garden, every detail had been thought of. The ceremony was beautiful - telling the story of how they met and their many global adventures together. There were laughs and tears in equal measure - mission accomplished!

A truly one of a kind wedding this week at the magnificent Arches Beach Wedding Venue on the North Devon coast - right on the beach at Combe Martin - what a glorious place to be on a sunny afternoon!

Manasa and Albin celebrated their love and commitment with many rituals, embracing cultures from all over the world.

Their relatives flew in from India to help them celebrate and kicked off the proceedings by sharing a family dance to the joyful song ‘Sooraj Ki Baahon Mein’ as they entered the venue in pairs. We were also treated to a fabulous performance by one of their guests who sang an Indian song followed by some Taylor Swift - her first time ever singing in English!

They blended sand to represent their promises to each other.
They lit individual candles before joining together to light a larger one, in a unity ceremony.
I conducted an ancient Celtic hand-fasting ceremony for them, ending with an infinity knot they can treasure forever.
They included the Hindu tradition of Thalikettu where they exchanged flower garlands and jewellery.
They even chose to include a ‘circling’ ritual, adapted from Jewish weddings to symbolise their fresh start.

So much planning and organisation went into getting this just right for them - and it was a wonderful ceremony, a real honour to be part of.
