Astilbe is one of those that c***s its snook at the clay, the pink, spiky/fluffy plant, also available in white, is guaranteed to return each year. Much prefers the sun.

The bent neck white flower is Lysimachia, or Goose neck strife, this is a real winner in terms of populating your garden as it spreads and can be divided to transplant elsewhere. Manages in sun or shade.

Lastly the taller, back of the border, purple flower is Verbena, another certainty in terms of seeding and spreading, also thrives in sun or shade

Few set backs with these plants, that said, don’t let the Lysimachia or Verbena get too big for their boots!

I’d like to share some gardening success and failures with you and this is the stunning Astrantia. They return every year and, if dead headed and cleared of all tired looking leaves, will produce flower after flower

Likely setback, prefers full sun

I’d like to share some gardening success and failures with you and this is the delightful Crocosmia. Very hardy. Lush scarlett flowers appear at around four foot in height, toward the back of your border, and are unperturbed by the clay.

I’d like to share some gardening success and failures with you and this is the Hypericum. Grows in sun or shade in a shrub like form. Grows to three, three and a half feet. Very hardy. Very generous with its berries. Lush. See also comments below. 🌹xx

Likely setback, can get too big for it’s boots and leave other plants in the shade. Best at the back of your garden. Easy to prune xx

I’d like to share some gardening success and failures with you and this is a cracker. The Calla Lily, this one was donated but has absolutely flourished, spreading easily by way of digging clumps from the mother plant. The flowers grow to up to three feet and are perfect for a mid garden placement. See also comments below 🌹xx

Likely setback, the slugs love them. Again I tried a natural solution and nematodes, from the Green Gardener, proved to be an outstanding success xx
