In all the excitement of the festival, we forgot to announce the winners of the festival’s very own ‘Lancashire Cup’. This was a blind tasting hosted by Lancaster 160 Round Table, with the judging panel including Tablers, festival sponsors and local beer aficionados.

So without further ado, onto the winners…

Stouts/Porters category - WINNER Whitworth Valley Brewing - Voodoo Dray 5.2% 🥇

Bitters/Mildscategory - WINNER Vocation Brewery - Yorkshire Bitter 4.3% 🥇

Speciality category - WINNER 4T's Brewery - Squirrel’s Heaven (Peanut Butter Stout) 4.8% 🥇

IPAs/APAs category - WINNER Vocation Brewery - Heart & Soul 4.4%

Pales category - WINNER Lancaster Brewery - Citra 4.2% 🥇

And the overall Champion Beer goes to… 🥁

Vocation Brewery - Heart & Soul Session IPA 4.4% 🏆

And that’s a wrap for Lancaster Beer Fest 2024. Thank you to all those who came, we hope you had a great time. We loved every minute of it.

We’d like to thank Lancaster 160 Round Table for all their hard work and support before, during and after the event. They are a wonderful group of guys who have done this festival proud over the years; we hope you got chance to chuck a few quid in their raffle and if you were the guy who hit a perfect 10 - let us know! No pic, no proof 😉

Thank you to all of our sponsors who helped make this event what it was. We look forward to working with you again.

Massive thanks also to the venue, security staff, bands, volunteers, bar staff, The Lancaster Spirits Company, Kelly and her catering team, and everyone else who helped out over the course of last week.

Time to rest for a day or two before we start thinking about the next one. In the meantime, thank you again and we’ll see you soon .🍻

🎶 LIVE MUSIC 🎶

We’re delighted to host three wonderful acts this week!

🎙️ On Thursday we have the uber talented Amy Anderson Walmsley Jazz/Vintage Vocalist bringing an array of jazz, 50s/60s and some rock and roll numbers too.

🤐🥰 Friday afternoon is our ‘Music-free’ session for those who prefer the quiet life

🤡 But on Friday evening we turn it up with return of the remarkable The Howling Clowns. Think every decade of music from the 60s onwards, with a mix of pop, disco, and soul. Get your dancing shoes on!

🎸 and finally on Saturday (both sessions) we invite the wonderful Splintered Ukes to bring the house down with their six piece all-ukulele line up, with some absolutely amazing covers lined up. Their guitars may be small but their sound certainly isn’t!

We will also complete some bar training before the session starts.

We got that Friday feeling so we thought you might like to know the five delights we have in store from Vocation Brewery 🎉🍺

Our personal fave is the Life & Death which is just full on juicy, fruity, hoppy goodness packing an almighty bite at 6.5%. The Pale ale Kirkstall Brewery collab is super special too and you won’t see it many places so make sure you give it a go. 🤤

These are really wonderful beers that we so are proud to have on the handpulls in just THREE WEEKS time!

🍻Important info re the beers...🍻

We're aware the festival has previously had a number of casks of each beer to ensure they don't run out.

Rather than stick with a reduced selection of 50-60 ales, we're delighted to host a range of over 100 different beers - the most this event has seen - on a first-come, first-served basis. Once they're gone, they're gone.

** The exception to this are the sponsors, Lancaster Brewery and Vocation. We'll have plenty of theirs! **

Due to ever-changing tastes it's impossible to predict the popularity of the beers before the event. We oversupply on beer as a whole by 20% at our festivals which means there's a hefty amount to pour away - and we hate waste! But it means there's always a good selection available.

We've got some diamonds on the beer list that we are sure will be very popular, so please bear this in mind when considering your session.

🍺 Beer news 🍺

And more exciting news today… We are delighted to host the wonderful Vocation Brewery as co-headline brewery sponsor at next month’s Beer Fest!

Based in Hebden Bridge, Vocation have been brewing since 2015 and started life as a one-man band based in a rebuilt chicken shed with a dog for company. From these humble beginnings, they now brew over 10 million pints a year sold in over 40 countries.

Those familiar will know they brew a mean pint, always hop-forward and bursting with flavour. We are proud to bring them to Ashton Hall in both cask and keg.
