Tour de Forth Spotlight🔦

AND just like that its our last spotlight before this years event🙌

Last but certainly not least we have Stewart Mcdowall and here is what he had to say👇:

👉"I got in to cycling after retiring from rugby to help keep fit nearly 7-8 years ago, but only done a few race events the last few years. I was messaged by an old school friend who done it last year, seeing if I fancied doing it with a few of us that went to school together over 20 years ago" (that is a pretty cool reunion if you ask us)🤩

P.S that post cycle pint...we like his style 😎

There is still time to join Stewart and 400 plus other cyclists on the 12th of June...Sign up below👇:

Fundraiser Friday 🙌

Friday shout out to the incredible Team Oceaneering!

This lovely team of 4 are made up of👇:

👉David Stubbs
👉Jimmy Smith
👉George Bain
👉Desiree Hammer

They started cycling back in November 2021 just to improve fitness levels (lose a bit of the COVID curve they tell us 😂😅) as well as to improve mental health and well being...PLUS the main part of enjoying a good bit of banter along the way.

Together they have almost hit that £1,000 target for our charity partners Radio Forth Cash for Kids...AMAZING ❤

HUGE thank you to them and to everyone who has supported them and of course to every single one of you fundraising as part of Tour de Forth this year.

You can still create a fundraising page below👇:

Tour de Forth Spotlight🔦

This week under the TDF spotlight we have John Arbuckle and here is what he had to say👇:

👉"I started cycling in spring 2016 as a way of getting fit with the additional benefits to my mental health, which wasn’t great at the time. I did my first Sportive with a gravel bike in autumn 2016 and found it great fun, despite skidding in mud and splitting my lip at one of the feeding stations! I got my first proper road bike that Christmas and I’ve enjoyed doing a handful of sportives a year ever since. It’s also given me an added dimension to foreign holidays – I’ve had a couple of great trips to Mallorca (cycling paradise!) and Asturias in north Spain (see pic, me in Red). Osteoarthritis in my ankles means running is no longer an option, so cycling is a great low-impact way of getting and keeping fit."

What attracted John to TDF?

👉"It’s local, well-organised, and I usually enter with friends, so it’s really sociable. It’s over terrain I am familiar with and it’s not too brutal. I like that there is a big charity tie-in with it too. I’ve really missed having full-on events like this because of the pandemic so it’s great that it’s back in the flesh"

Remember you only have until the 6th of June to sign up...you know you want too👇:

Ladies who cycle🙌

Everyone meet Caitlan and Eilidh. Here's what they had to say...

"Before COVID, cycling was just something we would occasionally do on a holiday or for fun. But when everything began to close down, it became more than that and was a fun way to get out & explore where we were living at the time.

For both of us, having Tour de Forth in 2021 was the encouragement and motivation we needed to keep regularly cycling - whether this meant long weekend cycles, taking an hour after work or cycling to work instead of getting the bus. The virtual challenge was also great fun and kept us competitive with each other.

We were both a bit worried that the Tour de Forth ride would be quite male-dominated and weren't sure how we would find it as our first sportive. Actually, it was so inclusive and the girls were very well represented! We met and chatted to lots of people at the start and along the route and there was such a friendly and supportive atmosphere the whole day.

We're both sadly not able to take part this year as we’re away on holiday, but will be back for Tour de Forth 2023! Hopefully see you there…."
