SPILL Festival + Think Tank Ipswich's international festival of contemporary arts + Think Tank performance venue 💫

SPILL is an arts charity based in Ipswich, the County Town of Suffolk in the east of England. You are invited to engage with the art we make and the SPILL Festival of Performance, as well the events, groups, classes, courses and venue hires we run from Think Tank building next door to Ipswich Museum. Our mission is to create and bridge all forms of art, to connect with our audiences in meaningful

ways; and to offer learning and other structured career pathways to develop artists, students and cultural workers. Our Artistic Policy is to use performance as a way of creating fresh perspective, to stimulate lively conversations around society, art, oppression and social justice. The way we create is not limited to one approach and draws upon Fine Arts, Music, Film, Storytelling, New Technologies, Science, Medicine, Politics, Psychology, History and Philosophy.

The Never Succeed at Silence photo gallery is UP ⚫⚪

Head to the courtyard in front of the New Wolsey Theatre to see Ipswich through the eyes of our Associate Artist, Isiah Jordan, and the local young photographers he has worked with over the past six months.

The project focused on creative empowerment and collective authorship, using 35mm and large-format cameras to capture the town from new perspectives 👀

A real story in an imaginary world. Or an imaginary story in the real world.

Windows rattle. The floor shakes. There are ripples in your water cup. A bright light on the horizon. Then the monsters arrive. Lasers! Fireballs! 👾

All of this really happened, or could have happened, or maybe it's happening right now.

MONSTERS is a post-apocalyptic East Anglian fairy tale. A documentary film about an event that hasn’t happened (yet) created by and starring dozens of children from all across the region, including those from Rushmere Hall Primary School.

🎟 You can catch MONSTERS for FREE at The King Street Cinema on Fri 24 October as part of SPILL Festival, followed by a Q&A with the artists, Andy Field and Beckie Darlington.

In partnership with Norfolk & Norwich Festival, First Light Lowestoft, Nene Park Trust and Sheringham Little Theatre.

SPILL FESTIVAL 2025: PERSONAL ✨

Jodee Mundy is bringing her smart, touching, and intimate show, Personal, to Ipswich this October!

At five years old, lost in a department store, Jodee suddenly discovered her family was Deaf.

Personal explores the contradictions of inhabiting two worlds: growing up in a Deaf family where sign language is natural, and living in a society that too often sees only disability.

🧏‍♀️ Told in Auslan, English, and creative captions

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Wholly inviting and generous" - ArtsHub

⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Jodee Mundy’s Personal is a winning and inclusive tonic, consistently hilarious and informative" - Timeout

📅 Sun 26 October 15:00 - 16:30
📍 Jerwood House, DanceEast
🎟 https://www.spillfestival.com/personal

Presented by Jodee Mundy Collaborations and Quiet Riot. Supported by Creative Australia and British Council's Creating Connections Through Culture grants.

Be part of a new artwork coming to Ipswich! 🎨

Port To Port is a textile installation celebrating the historic maritime communities of Lowestoft, Ipswich + Felixstowe.

Created from screen-printed memories, images and favourite objects, it celebrates East Anglia’s maritime history and preserves the stories of those who live here 🌊

Want to get involved? Join one of our creative printmaking workshops, led by artists Sophie Giller and Hollie Scholfield. You’ll make two prints - one to take home, and one which will become part of the installation, sailing to The Hold in October for SPILL 2025.

WORKSHOPS:
📅 11 Sept – Linocut Printmaking
📅 18 Sept – Screenprinting
📅 25 Oct – Monoprinting & Gelli Printmaking
📅 26 Oct – Collograph Printmaking
