Hello everyone. We are excited to announce that The Pixel Bunker will be opening in June 2021. We have so much to tell you that we don’t know where to begin, so we decided to create a little FAQ which hopefully answers most of the questions you may have...
What is the Pixel Bunker?
The Pixel Bunker is a classic video game arcade with original machines from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. The arcade has close to 100 cabinets all free to play once you are inside the venue.
When will the arcade be opening?
Our opening day will be Friday 4th June 2021.
When will I be able to buy tickets?
Tickets are on sale now for June sessions - https://www.facebook.com/events/155324423187057
Where is the Pixel Bunker located?
The Pixel Bunker is located on Secklow Gate West in Milton Keynes. The arcade is part of a larger entertainment complex which will also include The National Film & Sci-fi Museum.
How do I get to The Pixel Bunker?
We are conveniently situated in Central Milton Keynes, just ten minutes from Junction 14 on the M1. The arcade is seven minutes from Milton Keynes Central Train Station and is served by many local bus routes.
What are your opening times?
The Pixel Bunker will be open Tuesday – Sunday with three sessions each day at 10:00, 13:30 and 17:00.
Are all your games original?
With the exception of a few replaced parts here and there, all of the machines in The Pixel Bunker are completely original arcade cabinets fully restored by our in house team. The games are not run on emulators and the displays in our machines have not been replaced with newer LCD screens.
All of our games run on their original hardware just as they were intended to be played!
What is the entrance price?
Gaming sessions will cost £13.50 for Adults and £9.50 for Children. Family tickets will be £35.00 and concessions are available for students with an NUS card.
Is there parking at The Pixel Bunker?
Yes. There are over 1000 spaces immediately outside the venue for as little as 50p per hour.
Will there be Food & Drink at the Pixel Bunker?
The bar and food area at The Pixel Bunker will be closed while additional building work takes place at the adjoining National Film & Sci-Fi Museum. We hope to have it open in August 2021.
There are plenty of other food choices close to The Pixel Bunker - Nandos, Burger King, Pizza Express, Yo Sushi, KFC, McDonalds, Wagamama as well as other restaurant chains are all less than five minutes’ walk from the venue.
Is there a cash machine near the Pixel Bunker?
A Lloyds Bank with three ATMs is next door to The Pixel Bunker.
What games do you have available to play?
We currently have a collection of over 200 dedicated arcade cabinets and an additional 150 game boards meaning we have over 350 games to choose from. And we are adding new machines every week!
Every month the arcade floor will change as we alternate different games from our collection, meaning each time you visit you will get a different playing experience.
And we will also be giving YOU the opportunity to vote for the games YOU want to play at The Pixel Bunker – make sure you follow our page to find out how!
Keep an eye on our social media over the coming weeks to see our launch day line-up.
What is the National Film & Sci-Fi Museum?
The Pixel Bunker is part of a larger entertainment complex we have been working with. As well as our arcade, the venue will also house the National Film & Sci-fi Museum and other cool retro and fandom features still to be announced.
The museum is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and exhibition of the art, skills and dedication that goes into delivering some of the world’s most successful films and TV shows.
Displays from Star Wars to Indiana Jones, James Bond to Ghostbusters, Harry Potter to Marvel, and over 100 films and shows we all love and have been brought up with, will be on view in the museum.
So if you want to see Darth Vader’s screen used mask, James Bond’s Walther PPK gun, the grail cup from Indiana Jones, or a Cyberman helmet from Doctor Who, they will all be on view here!
So there we have it - that's what we've been working on for the last nine months. We can't wait to open and be able to meet everyone!
See you all soon.
