🌟Happy New Year! My hope for this year is to run more events. As my other work gets busier it’s so easy to push organising these events to the back of my list.

🌟As promised! My next .ladies networking event is available to book!

🥳We are super excited to be back at the Market Harborough Building Society for our January networking session, which will include a lighthearted vision board creation session (all materials provided).

😜Nothing to overthink - just a fun, cutting and sticking collage making session, setting our intentions for the year ahead!

Like all of the speakers that I invite to speak to us at LE16 Ladies - Social Group & Networking - I have been watching Lisa for quite a while (yes I am creepy!) When I first heard her story I was fascinated and I love her no bull💩 approach.

I get myself into such a nervous state organising these things, yet after each one I’m so glad that I’ve done it 🙄❤️

🧡HERE I AM!! A slightly orange (make up & dress) middle aged woman with bird on my head.

🧡 Writing this as I realised that I’ve now been self employed for 8 years! Although I didn’t call myself a virtual assistant for two years as I didn’t know what one was… I just wanted to help people promote their businesses but not be employed, so that I could hang around with my little girl and my rabbit a bit more 🐰👧

🍑Then I nearly didn’t post about it or acknowledge it because I decided I wasn’t actually very ‘successful’ and no one would care.

🍑BUT I’m feeling brave right now so 🤞🤞

✔️my initial goal was to avoid stress, work with people that I like, on my own terms. I also wanted to try and make as much £ as my old monthly salary (not commissions). 🥳I’ve actually achieved that but then I decided if I was really successful I should hire someone as well - I didn’t do that 🙄

🙃If you’re still with me here’s what have I learned:
🤓go to the networking event, say something, anything. Eat the cake, drink the coffee. I guarantee you will meet at least one useful person and each time you go you meet more ☺️☺️☺️
🤓follow your intuition - you don’t need to say yes to everything. The right opportunities and people come to you if you are yourself.
🤓always recommend other people - don’t say you can do a job that you don’t understand or have the skill set for. It just wastes everyone’s time.
😕accept that you won’t always be everyone’s cup of tea and let them go. Trying to make people like you and accept you is exhausting.
😒don’t compare yourself to anyone. We’re all singing from a different sheet, have different motivations and circumstances.
🫶🏽make lots of lists and make sure you are learning continuously from others in your own industry and outside - coaches, mentors, competitors, even people you think you will have nothing in common with.

🔮Everyone I’ve encountered has shown me something… even if it’s how not to behave.

😁Is it OK to get a tiny bit excited for September?

We absolutely love having inspiring and engaging speakers. BUT, as we've had a break for a couple of months...

😍What about just plain and simple networking with Tea/Coffee & Cake in a very nice venue.

✨We'll do our introductions, along with a couple of ice breaker activities (if needed).

✨We'll also hear a little from our hosts at Nossa Restaurant

🙈I'm so rubbish at posting my own content. Trying harder...

🤓I worked with this lovely lady on a short term basis helping her to promote her events and we set up a social media strategy to suit her budget.

😂We also spent far too long chatting - I learnt so much about her industry!

😯 Four Years!

Last Wednesday evening was my last meeting as secretary for Market Harborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce and I've just pressed send on my final set of minutes.

As a self-employed Virtual Assistant back in 2020, joining the chamber as social media support gave me a great way to get to know the committee and members whilst learning more about what issues other business owners in the town faced.

Becoming the secretary was very much unintended but a fairly happy three and a half year accident. Although minute taking is certainly not my forte.

We’ve been online, we’ve tried different venues across the town and even charity quizzes. I’ve seen the chamber grow, streamline, and develop. It has been a great experience and a pleasure to meet so many wonderful business owners.
