About Us:
As a business we are only small: a team of two to be exact.
We started in 2014 with our shop selling official Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland merchandise from a love of the stories. We don’t sell online (deliberately) but rather became what we term a ‘connection shop’. This allows someone to come along to our shop and not only buy great stuff(!) but meet others with a passion or enthusiasm for the same subject area. In a world of dwindling social skills and increasing digital mediums we wanted to bring a human element back into people’s lives. From this our new skill sets emerged.
We noted the number of people who come to see us because of our product range that had been ‘labelled’ (either by themselves, family, an employer, bullies or friends) as a geek, a nerd, different, unusual, weird or just plain odd. We observed that we could spend time with the person and show them that this quirk was their super power and that it would lead to amazing things in life (we talk from experience!) We then started to run ‘Wizard School’ and ‘Wonderland Wellbeing’. Taking inspiration from books and films, we designed sessions that would interact and engage people into having fun but learning new things. Our sessions are designed to show people how being different is awesome, that you are an amazing person and you have true potential whatever ‘label’ you have been given.
We also run team building sessions for corporate organisations themed around magical worlds (adults need magic in their life as well you know!) and motivational talks about our own experiences of being bullied and using that to our advantage.
Tommy Cook: After spending 12 years in the armed forces, I worked in the sales arena before working in Local Authorities, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Slimming World. I launched my own business ‘Tommy’s Treasures’ in 2014. I am a trained coach and people mentor. My super power is verbal communication. I am able to interact with everyone and have turned my ‘label’ into my greatest strength.
Damian Carter: I worked in the social care and benefits arena for many years including the Family Information Service, Community Mental Health Team and the Benefits team. I am an experienced trainer and coach. My super power is my creativity. I can turn any learning objective or message into something fun so you can ‘laugh and learn’.
