It looks as though we're going to have some great weather for Saturday's Barbon Hillclimb (for cars)!
There's a fantastic variety of cars entered: standard road cars, highly tuned modified production cars, single-seat racing cars, and classic and historic cars too.
Who will set a new class record? The weather should help!
Spectators are welcome - we need you!
Kids under 16 bringing a responsible adult get in free. Adult admission is just £10, or you can still book online for £8 at www.barbonhillclimb.co.uk
There's an excellent mobile catering unit in the main paddock, where you can inspect the cars and talk to the drivers as they rest between runs.
The action starts around 9:30am and should continue until at least 4pm (after a lunch break).
This is a working hillside livestock farm, so sensible footwear is recommended. The sun is forecast to be strong, so wearing a good coat (of sun cream) will be essential.
Will you be there? It's going to be a great day!

The new course record of 20.08 seconds set by Jos Goodyear in July 2015 makes Barbon one of the fastest Hillclimb courses in the UK. Jos set an average speed from a standing start to the flying finish of nearly 75mph, on a track not much wider than his car! Opened in 1950, it might be one of the sho...

It's not long now to the next exciting car Hillclimb at spectacular Barbon Manor.
July 11th is the date, and we have around 65 cars entered - but there's always space for more.
Competitors: it's a superb event, with a wonderful, friendly, social atmosphere in the paddock, which competitors often say is nearly as good as the action on the hill. Will you enter the event?

Spectators: Will you join us for this event in the scenic Yorkshire Dales National Park? The action will start around 9:30 and should continue until at least 4pm.
Adult admission is just £10 at the gate, or £8 if you book online. Kids under 16 get in free.

That was another great Barbon Hillclimb yesterday with a fantastic range of racing, classic and road-going cars taking part. What a variety of machinery! How the scrutineers decided on the best presented car, I have no idea - so many to choose from.

A massive thank you goes out to our fantastic marshals who braved a rather cool breeze to ensure that everyone was safe on the course.
If only that wind had dropped, it would have been a perfect day!

Thank you, everyone, for your contribution to a great day. The praise from competitors seemed never-ending, and we seem to have attracted the greatest number of spectators of any Barbon car event since the pandemic. Thank you for being there.

We had planned an early start with just one practice run to enable us to give 4 competition runs, but some timing issues slowed us sufficiently to prevent a fourth competitive run.
However, it was an excellent event and, with any luck, we shall achieve the 4th run for everyone on 11th July.

Being a temporary venue, it takes a lot of hard physical work by our volunteers to set up and run the event, and to turn the venue back into farmland by 7pm.
If you were there, we hope you enjoyed your day out.
Let us know how your day went.
We don't have the resources of major events, so we rely on our visitors to help us publicise the hillclimbs. So, please help us let everyone know that the next car hillclimb is on 11th July. See you there?

It's nearly time, folks! The first of this year's spectacular Barbon Hillclimbs is this Saturday, 13th June.

Gates open at 8:30 am - Adult admission is just £10, or you can buy your tickets now for just £8. Children under 16 bringing a responsible adult with them, get in Free! See www.barbonhillclimb.co.uk for details.
Practice starts at around 9:30, and the first competition runs should be underway by about 11:00. Then we keep going until around 4:30 (with a 40-minute lunch break at a convenient point).

Who will be the quickest up the challenging, narrow drive through Barbon Park? Who will set the fastest time for each class of cars? You'll need to be there to appreciate the atmosphere.

Taylor's of Kendal's excellent mobile catering unit is in the lower paddock, and toilets are located at various places on the hill.

For 362 days a year, this is a working hillside sheep & cattle farm, so all spectator areas are grass, some of it fairly steep. Stout shoes are essential, but the walk to the top of the course is highly recommended for the excellent views of the cars racing up the course, one at a time, against the clock.

The historic venue has changed little since its first events in the 1950s, but this simply adds to the spectacle. It's motorsport as it used to be, complete with historic cars as well as modern saloon and racing cars.
See you there?

The Barbon Inn's kitchen is closed until Friday, but they are opening at 5pm for us. If you are thinking of eating there on Friday, please phone or email now to book your table (& order food if possible) so they know how many customers to expect.
The Inn is likely to be busy on Saturday evening too, so it's wise to book now if you wish to eat there after the event.

After a sudden flurry, the 13th June Hillclimb entry list is now looking much healthier, but we can still take more competitors!
It's not long now before the official closing date, so if you are thinking of entering (and you should!), head on over to our website and get clicking!
Don't forget that you can enter your rally car as long as it meets the technical rules in MSUK's NCRs for sprints & hillclimbs. John Stone has already entered, so come on, give him some competition! 🙂 See www.liverpoolmotorclub.com for info and to enter.
