You know those moments when you reluctantly step out of your comfort zone and discover something magical? Well, that's what happened when my Mum insisted I break my “system” and try these.
Those of you who've received my flowers may have noticed they often come wrapped in books and maps that have seen better days. My Mum is the chief collector of these treasures, even if I initially resisted adding foreign road maps to because I know the size and form of paper I want.
But here's the twist – my Mum's insistence led to a wonderful surprise! These maps added a whole new dimension to my creations, and I couldn't be happier that I caved in. Sometimes, the unexpected can bring the most delightful discoveries.
🌻 So, open your mind to new possibilities and see where it takes you. You might just stumble upon something as fascinating as these repurposed maps! 🌍✨

My husband wants to show off his crop. He’s very proud and so he should be. Says they are prettier than flowers and I can’t completely disagree.

🌹🕸️ Saying Farewell to Summer's Beauty 🍂✨
As the sun sets on another beautiful summer, I'm taking a moment to appreciate the last of my vibrant cut roses. Their hues still remind me of warm days and golden evenings. 🌅🌹
Amidst the changing seasons, delicate cobwebs adorn the corners, weaving intricate tales of transition and nature's artistry. Each gossamer thread whispers of autumn's arrival, painting a portrait of a new beginning. 🍁🕸️
Nature's dance continues, gracefully shifting from the bloom of summer to the embrace of fall. Let's embrace this change, finding beauty in every season and cherishing the memories each one gifts us. 🍃🌸.

Sad news I'm afraid. Yesterday evening our Oakley dog passed over the rainbow bridge 🌈. Cuddled by his Mummy and Daddy he went peacefully.
It's going to be a long time before I'm not lost without him. He was with me EVERY single day everywhere I went. Truly my shadow, bodyguard, lunch box raider, flower squasher, and pheasant chaser. He knows all my secrets and he kept every single one too. I'm going to fall to pieces next time I find a tennis ball among the flowers.
Very much a loved part of our family and loved by lots of you too I know. Words can't describe how much he will be missed.

My new favourite grow, Celosia. A few errors along the way, I've not got the spacing right and I'm guessing it should have been pinched out. I don't have a lot but what I do have is beautiful. Keep an eye out if some your lucky enough to have some coming your way.

Then I blink and lupins and foxlgloves are here. What will show up next week?
05/05/2023
My flowers and foliage I have nurtured from tiny plants, seeds, and cuttings are now sitting in and will be in the presents of The King and The Queen Consort. I've been walking around whispering to these plants to look sharp as they have an important job to do. I will be watching the coronation closely to spot a stem of mine. I know them all personally after all!
I am so so honored to be part of history. Knowing when to pat yourself on the back is important and this week has been the right time. A career highlight.
I can't wait to see what has put together with all the contributions from other flowers. And a special shout to Harriet who has worked extra hard behind the scenes organising all us South West members.

Such a big secret I've been keeping.
We are thrilled and honoured to share the wonderful news that beautiful, scented, spring flowers from my plot will be part of Flowers from the Farm’s gift to Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their Coronation.
Alongside seasonal flowers and foliage from fellow growers in all four nations of the UK, our blooms will decorate the Quire and the Grave of the Unknown Warrior of Westminster Abbey during Saturday’s Coronation Ceremony.
Flowers from the Farm has been working closely with floral designer and sustainable floristry advocate to bring the beauty, joy and variety of local, seasonal flowers to the heart of this historic occasion.
We are so proud to be members of Flowers from the Farm, the membership association that champions nearly 1000 independent, artisan growers of local, seasonal cut flowers right across the UK.
The flowers have been grown in harmony with the natural seasons, outdoors and in polytunnels on flower fields, allotments, cutting gardens and walled gardens. Since every plot has its unique growing and weather conditions, the displays in Westminster Abbey of more than 4500 stems will reveal a unique floral tapestry of springtime in the UK.
Flowers from the Farm members teamed up to relay buckets of fresh flowers to local hubs, regional hubs and then onto the main hub in South Gloucestershire, where they were sorted and prepared for Shane Connolly to arrange at Westminster Abbey.
The Coronation marks a landmark moment for the global flower farming movement. It demonstrates that local, seasonal flowers deserve to be seen at state occasions just as much as they do in bridal bouquets, funeral tributes or vases in the home.
God Save the King!

At this time of year there is something new popping up everyday to say hello.👋

I am really excited about growing these as a "cut flower". My first time making marigold garlands and I am looking forward to threading up these little balls of sunshine.

These British Ranunculus may not have a strong fragrance, but the sheer abundance of petals make up for it. They're like that stunning person you meet, whose beauty can speak volumes but have the personality of a cardboard box. These flowers are the perfect example of how appearances can be just as impactful! 🌷

Did you know grape hyacinth is edible? 🌷🍴 I tried steeping the flower buds in water and was excited to mix it with some lemonade. But unfortunately, the taste was not as pretty as the flower itself! 😝 Imfact it was one of the most vile things I've ever tried. Can you recommend any other ways to use grape hyacinth in the kitchen?
(Donyour own research on edible flowers)

Seed sowing basics. Fine, sandy low feed compost. Firm down. Finally sprinkle your chosen seed. I'm using Cosmos 'purity'. A relatively large seed and I like to fit quiet a few into a small pot as I know they won't be here for long. Cover the seed with fine soil and firm down so the seeds have a good condition with the compost. Label with the variety and date. I like to use cut up milk cartons. Gently water. The trick is to sow little and often to continually get a succession of flowers.

Busiest day ever. I think I have received and delivered more orders today than any other regular day. I just looked through my phone to find a photo to go with the post and all I have is me doing a happy little dance. This genuinely happens everytime my phone pings with an order.
With customers regular florists reopening soon for the month of love I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that's given me a try. I'm a little different and I don't suit everyones tastes but to those who found the fit was right I look forward to you returning in the summer when I can give you the real seasonal delights.
It means a lot. Thanks for supporting me.

About Bude Blooms - your local Bude Florist
Cassie Cannon, who launched Bude Blooms in 2017, has a background in gardening and horticulture. Seven years ago, she started a gardening business Cassie's Garden Maintenance, and during that time she also gained her RHS qualifications.
Over those years, she grew countless flowers for cutting, from fragrant narcissi in spring, bright cosmos and dahlias in summer, right through to holly and ivy at Christmas.
"You'll never see my windowsill bare!" says Cassie.
Receiving compliments for her arrangements gave her the confidence to enter local shows, and after winning several prizes, she began offering services for sympathy flowers, event arrangements, and even wedding floristry.
After spending some time improving her skills further at the Tallulah Rose Flower School in 2017, she launched Bude Blooms, offering a refreshing new take on floristry, her style unique to other florists in Bude.
"I work with the natural flow of the flowers, that give my arrangements a beautifully wild touch. I would describe my style as wild, natural, and fun - that's what I'm about."
"Every design I create is individual and unique to the client, made especially with them in mind."
The flowers she uses for her arrangements are responsibly sourced, and many are grown right here in Bude, or from wider Cornwall. Meaning that when you support Bude Blooms, you truly are supporting local.
Cassie is keen to protect the environment, and her creations reflect her ethos, "I strive to produce as little waste as possible, by using repurposed, reusable and recycled materials."
"Bude Blooms is an independent, conscientious and sustainable business you can trust."
