CELEBRATING LOCAL GROWERS

Yep the sun is shining and it’s making me think about how fortunate we are here in the South West to have an army of local growers for your wedding flowers. All those little shoots and bulbs popping up over the next few weeks destined for Wedding happiness.

I love them because

Seasonal - let your florist guide you to a bouquet of seasonal loveliness. You may discover a flower you may never have considered.

Less air miles- Not always possible when we are looking for floral perfection but only if we close our miss to possibilities. Locally grown means fresher for longer so if you are looking to preserve some of your flowers this will help.

Fragrance- Nothing says romance and memories than a beautifully scented arrangement on your day.

Local - supporting local business Where possible I will always try to recommend local suppliers that are still the right fit for floral magic and to suit your investment.

Who’s feeling festive?
 
I wanted to share with you over the next few weeks one of my greatest achievements.
Christmas Event Design at the Bishop’s Palace 2020 & 2021. I love seeing behind the scenes and sometimes after an event I can forget just how much effort I have put in. So this year I am reminiscing and going back through all my unseen footage to show you this epic Christmas design.
 
I love planning Weddings and Events but when presented with the challenge of designing Christmas at The Bishop’s Palace 2020 & 2021 I couldn’t wait to get started. It’s a huge space and the budget was limited but I love getting creative. Remembering how I was as a child and the feeling of walking into a winter wonderland. I wanted to transport adults back to their childhood, whilst creating magic for the little ones.

Who's getting their Christmas on? It's SO nice this year to be able to enjoy December and and take some much needed time to just enjoy the season.

Not only is the tree now up but we have even managed to visit an artisan Christmas market and enjoyed some lovely lunches out.

I'm turning my attention to homemade gifts now, I can't tell you what they are of course as my family follow me but getting creative is what I love.

This was such a lovely Wedding to work on, small on numbers big on details, just how I like it.

I love nature, architecture, history and pretty things so this was such a PERFECT wedding for me to work on.

When you spend an hour discussing the colours of candles and that's your job. Love it!

Attention to detail - Here we upgraded the glassware to crystal. Changed the colour of the candles, to soft cream delicate lavender and blush pink. I added a soft plant dyed muslin runner mirrored the stone work using stone salt glaze bottle for bud vases.

Hey, I’m Chloe and it’s been a LONG time since I put my face on here.

I started Kennedy Wedding and Events in 2018 after life threw me a curveball and I found myself not knowing which direction to go in. My then relationship ended, just before I was due to get married. I had to walk away from a very successful business in an industry so far removed from the Wedding business. The other business, roofing! Yes, that’s right swipe to see me in action if you don’t believe me.

I have never revealed this before, so why now? I guess because it says a lot about me, I’m determined!! No matter what life throws at me I’m not afraid to make changes and move on. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve cried and sulked there has been SO many times. I have wanted to give up, but I just keep on going.

I have always wanted to work for myself so when I found myself having to leave a business, I had worked so hard to build, the only thing I knew was I wanted to remain self-employed.

I have a strong background in hospitality, and I have always loved weddings and making other people happy. So it began, I absorbed every business course I could, spent hours building a website and working on my social media platforms.

Of course, bills must be paid and to support my business, I took a position at The Bishop’s Palace as Wedding and Events Manager.

Just as my business starts to take off and my name is getting out there, the pandemic hits ugh!! I took a leap of faith over a year ago to go and left the Palace. I wanted to concentrate on my business. I'm no where near where I want to be but I'm getting there.

I’m so passionate about weddings and events. Seeing weddings come together, getting to know a couple and their families is the best feeling. Knowing I’m a part of ONE of the most important days of their lives is epic. Then, when my couples have taken time out of their busy lives to relay to me how grateful they are, for my contribution makes all the tears and self-doubting worthwhile.

Fun fact, roofing is just like a wedding but with prettier things. Its project management, involving suppliers, communication, organisation and its weather dependent.

It’s way too easy as a business owner to focus on what I’m not doing instead of celebrating the things I have achieved so today I’m taking a few mins to reflect on what I have achieved in the last week.

1. Well this is my second time writing this post out, only for instagram to decide there was an error trying to post it to my grid, so there’s win number one…I persevered lol

2. With just 48 hours notice I pulled together some styling for a 360 degree video shoot, which was new for me and interesting to see the results, blog coming soon on that one.

3. Blog, yes I have done it, started that is, finding time is SO difficult but I can see how it will grow my business that much more.

4. A beautiful and enormous gallery of phots landed in my inbox last week and I have loved looking at all the gorgeous images. I hardly ever have time to take photos of my weddings so to see it a wedding captured by a pro makes my day. Fine Art Wedding Photographer]

5. NHS I have pulled together a dream team of wedding supplier for their Winter awards party I’m planning and it’s amazing how generous everyone is being…..I can’t wait to see it all come together.

6. SEO equals eye roll, I’m seriously thinking about outsourcing this area of work but I am half way through a business course on it , thanks to the lovely
Just putting it down in words already I feel better, time to do what I do best and get planning now.

NHS Winter awards ceremony - is here!

After a lovely few days away in Cornwall with my partner, it’s back to reality and hitting the ground running.

I can’t believe how quickly this event has come around. It’s 4:45am and I’m just finishing my list of ‘things to do’ for today!

I’m lucky enough to have a dream team of suppliers on board, who have all been amazing from the start of the booking process.

I’m not very good at taking time for me!

After leaving my position and going fully freelance over a year ago and having my own business, there is always something to do. The list never ends but in the words of I’m trying to just do one thing at a time, to grow my business.

Time, is also one of the biggest hurdles for my couples.

Trying something new .. ME time

I was recently excepted for membership to Babbington House and it’s opened up a whole opportunity of downtime versus a new way of working and great way to network with like minded business owners and entrepreneurs.

I’m really hoping for a cancellation to pumpkin painting workshop, combining 2 things I love nature and creativity.

How cool would these be sat on my desk in the studio, which is still yet to be fully finished 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s on the list lol

I can’t believe it’s been June since I last posted on my instagram, kind of sorry / not sorry. What can I say life got busy but thank you, to those that dropped me a line see if I was ok.

I have had some beautiful weddings this Summer and I’ll be sharing more on that later.

Sadly my Dad passed away quite suddenly and it was unexpected so that was as you can imagine, quite a lot to deal with but we gave him the best Memorial Day you could imagine. The planner that I am, it had to be a little better than a room full of sombre people all wearing black, I have nothing against this but it just wouldn’t have reflected my dad. For more on what I did for him, check out my new blog post in Studio notes, link in Bio.

Since then I have come down with Covid, so the doctors say and I’m now 6 weeks in of this nasty illness but I’m coming out the other end and my energy levels are returning.

I’m really excited to start working on future events and projects and I’ll let you know more about that later.

Not done anything on instagram for a few weeks and tbh it’s been nice having a full power down.

So what have I been up to? Well it started with an amazing break away for Mother’s Day with my boyo Ethan. He works such long hours, so I don’t get to see much of him but it was great to get away for a few days and visit family, also meeting my Great nephew, who has to be the most chilled out baby I’ve ever met.

We decided to extend the stay for a few days and explored a bit of Norfolk whilst we were over that way, highlight seeing a genuine Banksy in Cromer.

On return I collected pup 🐾 Finley who’s now 9 weeks and a ball of energy. So I decided to take some extra time to focus on his training.

It’s been a great few weeks of reflective time and so good to be away from social media.

Sorry not, sorry instagram and your algorithms 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m just returning from a week’s social media power down, after taking some much needed R&R, following a very busy few weeks of creative inspiration. I am very excited to have come back to confirmation of another Full Wedding Planning appointment.

Today I’m back to renovating my studio, which I feel like I have been doing for an age now but it’s a lesson in patience for me hahah

Working from home is a wonderful thing but it can be hard to switch off from. I’m very fortunate to have a space to call my own just a few steps away from the house, so I took the decision just before Christmas to make it more of a space I would spend time in rather than just appointments.

I wanted to make the most of pieces I have, make the space work for me practically but also be a space I would be inspired by, after lots of furniture building, sanding, painting, reupholstering …I’m getting there! Naturally putting the finishing touches to it will be my favourite part but I still have a way to go.

So that will be my Monday, what’s everyone else up to?
