The North East is lucky enough to have it's very own open air museum. Near the town of Stanley, in County Durham, Beamish tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s and 1950s complete with shops, pubs, cinemas, trams, schools, mines, fully working farms and much more. It's an incredible place that's both entertaining and educational.

The Shambles is a historic street in York, England, featuring preserved medieval buildings, some dating back as far as the 14th century. The street is narrow, with many timber-framed buildings with jettied floors that overhang the street by several feet.

Alnwick Castle, located in Northumberland is the seat of the 12th Duke of Northumberland, built following the Norman conquest and renovated and remodelled a number of times. An impressive building in beautiful Alnwick.

The lookout point on the very top of Raven Crag. It's a quick but tough climb but worth every step!

Sage Gateshead is a music centre rooted slap bang in the middle of Newcastle. I've enjoyed a number of events there and the building is a beautiful addition to the Riverside.

Belsay Castle is just one of the many amazing sights you'll experience on your visit here... To get to the castle itself, you must make your way through its vast quarry garden, which has a very jurassic vibe. Along with its great shops and walks, Belsay Castle makes for a brilliant day out! 😊

Tommy World War One Soldier Sculpture located on the seafront at Seaham, County Durham. Officially named Eleven-O-One, referring to the first minute of peace as the armistice came into force at 11am on the 11th of November 1918.

The Penshaw Monument, officially The Earl of Durham's Monument, was built in 1844 on Penshaw Hill between the districts of Washington and Houghton-le-Spring. Surrounded by parkland and small lakes, this is a lovely location to visit just south of Newcastle.

Some absolutely devastating news today about the iconic and beautiful sycamore gap! It's a location I've taken photos at numerous times over the years and a lovely place to visit. The tree was cutdown in the early hours of the morning by some low life scum... Ruining one of the most scenic places in the North. I immediately suggest we set up a restoration charity and look at a way we can replace this wonderful tree.
