Story time 🎉 It’s been a minute since I have sat down and wrote about behind the scenes of MBB, I have been juggling a few projects, one of them being motherhood. I’ve had some new followers on here so I would like to give a short introduction of my brand and what we have been up to this year.
I created MBB in 2018 after attending a circus school in China, I had an idea to work with local seamstresses in a place called Wuqiao, renown for “the hometown of acrobats” I have worked with a few seamstresses at the beginning and it was all a bit hectic managing supplies to their houses etc, until I met Renjie in 2019, she is the most genuine, trustworthy badass boss lady that I have the pleasure to work with. She literally is the Bubble Bum lady that make all your bubble bum dreams come true, although I create, design, supply her with the patterns, fabrics etc, She not only cuts fabric and stitches, but she hires and manages other local seamstresses to come to her house when we have bigger orders.
I left China in 2019 and I could never return because of the pandemic, we communicated online for nearly 3 years until recently Chinese borders opened up and I hopped on a plane at 30 weeks pregnant to China to work closely with her for 3 weeks. We updated patterns, sizes and worked on getting the best quality fabrics and methods. She also discussed with me that some of the styles are tedious and wanted to increase her price per item which I absolutely respected and there was zero negotiation.
It’s been such an amazing journey these past 5 years, although we have definitely messed up a few times, maybe you received the wrong order, or there was a stitch loose, or a defect in the fabric that we missed, just know that we try our absolute best , if we do mess up, we will take accountability and either refund you or send you a replacement, so just a reminder to all you bubble bum lovers, We are human.

Our Story

I Jessica, am the girl behind My Bubble Bum, I am a circus artist originally from Ireland. I quit my full time job as a hairdresser and basically ran away with the circus. After many years of training, I began creating my own costumes for my upcoming shows, Mainly because there was nothing out there that I personally liked.

My Bubble Bum is that shop that you have you always dreamed of and me too.. I dreamed of it everyday!! I searched the net to find it, I visualised this colourful circus clothing shop, But I just couldn’t find anything like I had imagined, it was still a dream that nobody had created, I finally realised that if this dream shop would come true, I would need to create it to solve my own problem. So I did, and My Bubble Bum was born.

I didn't want to just create a brand but I wanted to create a community of like-minded people to come together. support one another and share our passion!

My Bubble Bum is my small contribution to the revival of traditional circus clothing, which in my opinion is bland and boring, and really not practical for the stuff we crazy circus peeps get up to! And now, they've never looked so cute by putting a colorful twist and cheeky ruffle bum!
