This week we are in BRAGA in northern Portugal for a multicultural fusion wedding !

The fab couple are actually from my own hometown Nottingham, which is a real rarity for me .

Family and friends have travelled from across the globe to attend this much awaited union, and there are beautiful wedding vibes in abundance everywhere.

There'll be several pre wedding events, so looking forward to lots of fun shenanigans in Portugal 💕

Day 5 of is about other celebrants who have inspired me.

There are many lovely inspirational celebrants who've are supportive and really inspiring but these two are just phenomenal women !

🌟Sonal Dave
The wonderful Sonal aka has to be mentioned as she's multi talented and has a wealth of expertise as a celebrant.
She's always willing to share her knowledge and like me believes in collaboration and lifting each other up !
Her ceremonies are full of creativity and celebrate diversity with a flair that's just unique to her ✨️✨️✨️

🌟Claire Lawrence
The brilliant shining star that is Claire is my other celebrant choice. 🌟 Coincidentally, we both live in the same town so often catch up and share ideas and experiences (over brunch usually! ) Her celebrant style is fun, awesome and heartfelt and she lights up any room she's in with her beaming smile. Clients love her as she's just full of warmth and generosity of spirit, plus shes an actual TikTok queen !! 👑

World Celebrant's Week 2023 day 3's theme is all about what I love about being a celebrant ❤️
Well I thought long and hard about how to narrow this one down so it's not an essay!
It came down to one thing and that is that I love celebrating love ❤️

It's an amazing feeling to create a ceremony that celebrates the love of two people coming together and witnessing the love and warmth that their family and friends have for them too.
Every ceremony is a testament to that love and I get to help couples share that ❤️ ❤️

It's World Celebrant's week so day one is ABOUT ME !

✨️I'm Jas an independent multicultural celebrant based in Nottingham and travel across the Uk and worldwide to perform ceremonies.

✨️I'm part of a big family and my greatest cheerleaders are my sisters 💛

✨️I love cooking for anyone who dares to try my culinary creations...although I'm rather well known for an awesome sticky toffee pudding !

✨️ I have a passion for singing and have written a book based on Punjabi folk songs traditionally sung at weddings.

✨️Love a bit of 70's 80's music and Tina Turner but my fave genre is the bhangra beat...I just have to dance !

✨️I'm married to a crazy Elvis fan and actually loved the trip we made some years ago to Elvis's Graceland home and his birthplace. That was really memorable ✨️

✨️Positivity is my best friend, and I don't worry about what might happen because to me that's a total waste of energy. "Let it be"

✨️I love to travel and my favourite is a cruise. Next one is to the Caribbean!! 💛

✨️ I am a wedding celebrant but also do funerals, naming ceremonies and vow renewals. Each one of my ceremonies gives me the opportunity to work with and meet some incredibly fabulous people. 💛

Well its a new year full of possibilities!
I'm the same me - still here showing up full of creativity and imagination.
So hello to new friends and also to the ones who've known me for a while 🥰

I'm Jas and I'm the second generation of Indian parents who came to the UK in search of a better life in the 1950's. Hard graft, dedication and never giving up were their principles and that's embedded in my DNA too.
I love to travel and explore the culture and diversity of new places and am passionate about languages. In fact I'm  multi lingual and speak Hindi, Punjabi Urdu, and English of course !
I love a new challenge and believe that trying new things (even if I don't succeed) is better than never even giving something a go.

There was no lifelong yearning to be a Celebrant but there was a pivotal moment leading a funeral that made me realise I actually could do this pretty well !
Writing a ceremony that offered flexibility and creativity that really resonated with the people involved was the light bulb moment for me. It was a ceremony that made people smile, cry and feel all the emotions of life. So that was it, and I have been creating fabulous wedding ceremonies ever since. Ceremonies that aren't prescriptive, judgey or samey - in fact each one I write is totally different, full of emotion, fun, laughter and above all about the couple, their love and their journey together.
I'm just hooked on working with fabulously diverse couples to make their ceremony more personal, more inclusive and meaningful.
We are all unique so why should we settle for basic and boring....that's just not necessary. Life is full of exciting experiences and I want your ceremony to encapsulate it all  -within reason !!
If you want a ceremony that people will be talking about long after the big day is over, then let's get together to create it ❤️

Is there anything cuter on a wedding day than flower girls? 😍💐

They are undoubtedly one of the cutest things to see at a wedding, and here’s a little inspiration to get your little angels looking their most adorable:

Starting with the staple white cotton dress, a simple sash that matches your colour scheme can really tie them in with the rest of your wedding and add that little extra cuteness. Pair this with a flower halo and little ballerina pumps and your guests’ hearts will melt!

Finally, a decorative wicker basket filled with flowers or whatever sustainable confetti you have in mind will really add that extra level of detail and make your flower girls feel like they have a very important job on your big day!

Just make sure you don’t overfill it otherwise you could soon be finding confetti everywhere! 😆

As part of World Celebrant's week it's time to highlight what I personally love about being a celebrant 💛💛

There are way too many fabulous aspects I could rattle off but the top few have to be these...

🌟 The endless creative choices I have about how your ceremony will feel. The content, the elements we can include and above all what matters to you!

🌟 The uniqueness of each and every ceremony...because its ALL ABOUT YOU and of course no two couples are ever the same.

🌟 The absolute joy I see every time I create a ceremony that is full of emotion, super special, personalised and truly memorable...especially when there are joyous tears flowing (and believe me there are plenty of tissues passed around at a celebrant led ceremony!)

These pics were captured by the lovely and I think they show how I love the connection created with my couples and how much I totally love being a celebrant. 💛

Keeping couples calm, exploring whats important to them, getting to know them well, the laughs, the tears and especially the friendships I have made along the way make it a really worthwhile vocation for me !

I’m always a bit hesitant to shout out loud about my skills and wins, but I can honestly say I’m super proud to have the capacity to not only write great ceremonies but to put couples at ease at such a stressful time in their lives. It’s one of the biggest reasons I chose to be a celebrant and the reactions of my couples are confirmation that I made the right choice.

//WHEN A TREE DECIDES TO FALL ON YOU ❤!!//

I had to share this one with you !
Conducting a couples ceremony is a real privilege and requires total composure and being immersed in that special moment.

Well whilst I was so busy delivering their script the tree you can see behind me fell towards my head and nearly knocked me out!

A huge gasp from the guests caused me to look up and instinctively I put my hand out.

I caught the tree in said hand like a true superhero before it knocked me out cold!!
I just laughed it off, made light of it all and carried on with the ceremony !
I cannot wait to see the video footage of that very special moment 🤣🤣

A celebrant has to be versatile , adaptable and creative and boy did this situation require all those skills !!

“Jas was an absolute professional and a real lifesaver for us on our big day. We had to overcome hurdle after hurdle as we were getting married in between the thick of the global pandemic. As the UK government likes to change their minds with the rules every 5 minutes, we were left with no ceremony for our wedding only 6 days away! Stressed was an understatement.
