Winter has now arrived.
Two consecutive days below zero and some hard frost setting in. Perhaps differently to other wild meadows we let ours go completely bonkers with as little human interaction as possible. This means it takes time for the balance to be found. Winter sees the grasses begin to tussock and gaps appear where different bits and bobs start to appear. If you look carefully you can see little spaces where insects and creepy crawlies are finding a warm home. Other meadows that we’ve been developing for a number of years have stronger diversity of flowers and all sorts of flora and fauna and it’s such an adventure to see the meadows develop
