Getting up at 5am to network with this fabulous bunch of people is quickly becoming my favourite thing to do on a Friday morning with the Baddow group of Effective Business Network

Considering the first week of the month was mostly spend in hospital I managed to rack up a lot in July!

20 cities and 54 places in 3 weeks! 🫨

August is shaping up to be pretty similar with me out on the road meeting all the great members in Effective Business Network (UK) Ltd (Known as ebn) although hopefully without any hospital admissions! 🤞🏼

😱𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐆!!! 𝐖𝐓𝐀𝐅???
𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞?! 😭

These exact words were stampeding through my frazzled brain 3 weeks ago with an alarming ferocity!

Picture this, you take over a new business.
There's lots of stuff you need to get to grips with.
You're travelling all over the place.
Working really long hours.
Meeting tonnes of new people.
You're pretty exhausted.
But also mega excited and running on ideas, adrenalin, and gallons of caffeine.

Then you get a message from someone in the team asking if you've taken the website down?? My answer being no.

You immediately type out your website name, but nothing appears.
You try multiple times hoping for a different outcome, but it's the same every time.

It's a bit like when you keep going to the fridge and opening the door looking for something delicious to eat but nothing has magically appeared since you peeked in an hour ago!

Except worse, much worse!

Yeah, so that actually happened 3 weeks ago.

Just 2 weeks into owning a new business the website upped and left. It literally disappeared without a trace as if somebody, somewhere had pulled the plug on it overnight.

Luckily, I had been working on some bits and pieces but by no means a whole new website.

Rather than panic, I did what needed to be done and created something completely brand new, a webpage to provide a stepping stone towards a shiny new website.

I knocked this page up in record time, it's not perfect, but it serves as a place where people can find Effective Business Network and book onto events.

When I take a quick glance at the analytics for this page I have to admit I'm pretty pleased with the results I'm seeing so early on.

I haven't carried out extensive keyword research yet and I haven't optimised the page properly, so to see these kinds of figures in such a short space of time has put a mahoosive smile on my face!

It has confirmed to me that I'm on the right track with the other pages I'm working on, it's the techy equivalent of external validation!

I'm excited to launch the next phase which is paving the way to something bigger and better than what was there before.

What at first seemed like a tragedy has actually pushed me to implement changes (although more abruptly that I would've liked) which are fast becoming significantly more positive.

The previous website received almost zero traffic and my new page is getting substantially more. In fact, around 600% more, in just 21 days of being live.

Yes, I'm blowing my own trumpet loudly!
Because I turned something around mega quickly which had the potential to be utterly devastating from a business perspective.

I'll put a link to it in the comments, just in case you'd like to have a nosey at it. And before anyone comes for me...

Yes, I know the page isn't perfect.
It will continue to be an area of progress over the coming months.

This month has been a complete whirlwind from start to finish.

An utter cacophony of situations, emotions, and circumstances has more than kept me on my toes.

The 1st of July saw me halfway through an unexpected hospital admission, the discovery that I have something rather unpleasant going on in my body, and a meeting in the hospital coffee shop to seal the deal with the Effective Business Network (UK) Ltd (Known as ebn) sale.

Roll forward to today and the first thing I've noticed from these pictures is that my skin's tone looks much healthier than it did at the start of the month! Less grey, more glow!

I have travelled (what feels like) the entirety of Essex this month and met more people than I can remember, including names and faces; please accept this as my public apology if I forget we've met when I see you next!

I've had some exciting meetings regarding the future of ebn and the plans to enhance the network are phenomenal!

I'm facing challenges I hadn't even dreamt I would have to deal with, but I'm tougher than I look and will do whatever it takes. Never someone to be beaten down, I do not admit defeat easily, perhaps I should change my name to Tenacious N 😂

But, I am only human. The saying that Rome wasn't built in a day is something I have to keep reminding myself of as I can be impatient, even with myself and how quickly I want to get things accomplished.

There have been (and are likely to be more) little hiccups as I incorporate a new business into my life. I also have to regularly tell my brain to stop beating me up over them all because I am not perfect and it's ok to make mistakes.

When I make a mistake it sets off a lot of unwanted feelings inside my brain and the chain of thought that begins with me having done something wrong which I will pay the price for.

When you associate making a mistake/getting it wrong/having an accident with your misgivings being punished it causes you to be mega hard on yourself, which is neither helpful or productive.

Your default setting is that you're not good enough, the proof being that you have 'done something wrong' when the reality is it's no big deal.

It's an unfortunate remnant of abuse and trauma which I'm sure many other people can relate to.

I hope you read this and don't have a clue what I'm talking about, because that means you've never experienced being physically or emotionally punished for what you have said or done.

If reading these words makes perfect sense to you take this moment to remember that mistakes happen, accidents happen, and the entire human race gets s**t wrong.

None of it makes you a bad person.

It does not mean you're not good enough.

You don't deserve or need to be punished, least of all by yourself.

Take a deep breath, remember you're fu***ng fabulous, and leave all that s**t behind because it's doing you absolutely no favours whatsoever!

The buzz from connecting with other business owners means my day begins in a way which sets me up for a much more productive, business-focused day than usual.



When you usually spend much of your time working alone it can be challenging to give yourself the push you need to get s**t done.



And let’s not even get started on the devil which is procrastination. Or the dreaded lack of motivation which hits us all from time to time.



𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀.



It doesn’t interfere with ‘normal’ working hours, meaning I haven’t lost half a day travelling to and from an event I’m attending.

🗣 I don't think I stopped talking for 12 straight hours yesterday, and obviously it's not like me to be talking a lot 😂

I didn't even get a chance to take any pictures capturing how great my first Effective Business Network event played out!

🤩 The vibe in the room was simply amazing as business owners from all over Essex came together for a superb afternoon of networking.

🤩 The lively conversations naturally flowed, new connections were made, and potential collaborations were discovered!

Business networking is not about rocking up and 'selling your s**t' to the people in the room. 🚫

🪄 The magic happens naturally when you allow people to get to know you, the real you, the person behind your company name and your profession.

✨️ Sharing your passions, experiences and knowledge is far more powerful for your business growth than simply telling people what you do for a living.

Because let's face it, we're all bloody nosy and we love hearing what others have to say 😂 so it kinda makes a lot of sense! We might not like, or agree with it all, but we definitely enjoy the juicy stuff!

And that's what helps people decide if they want to work with you, or refer you to others.

That's what networking is about and what yesterday saw in abundance; it was fantastically awesome!

July 1st was a date which had been engraved into my brain over the last few months, for all the right reasons!

The day of completion. The handover. The final paperwork signed!

July 1st, the day I became the official owner of Effective Business Network (UK) Ltd (Known as ebn)

If you've been here a while and take even the slightest notice of anything I share with the word, you will probably be aware that life has a rather rude habit of not only 'kicking a girl when she's down' but trampling all over me like some kind of deranged horse on a rampage!

And usually, just as I'm finding the physical and mental strength to claw myself back out from the depths of the black hole I'm in, a rabid dog takes a giant dump right into my already battered soul!

When life is going pretty damn well I think my luck has turned and crazy, stomping, defecating wild creatures and giant black holes are a thing of the past.

10 days ago, I was almost aghast with joy at how unbelievably great everything seemed to be going in my life!

Excited to the max and displaying happy dances galore! Tell me you're a business owner who doesn't do a happy dance when something goes well and I will call you out for telling porky pies!

I really should be adept enough with 48 years practice to know I should never, NEVER, count my chickens... actually, I should never even assume I have any chickens to begin with!

Because then I went and got ill, not just a bit ill, but a really kind of unpleasant not very well.

And like every other business owner I did what I always do, carried on working like it was just any other normal day.

Except, it wasn't.

And by the end of it I had been admitted into hospital and instead of getting treated to a midnight snack, I had a midnight CT Scan where they put this weird contrast dye inside you that heats up and makes you feel like you've wet yourself. Just to clarify, I hadn't... not that time anyway.

It just so happened that while I was being held hostage I was due at a very important meeting in Chelmsford on July 1st for the purchase of my new business acquisition.

No way in the world was I cancelling this, so we just had a slight change of venue because I will not be beaten; I have a tenacity which could win Olympic medals, if that were a real thing, perhaps I should make it so!

I wonder if a business sale has ever taken place on the grounds of Colchester Hospital before?

I could've made history that day!

And then it got me thinking about other random places that business deals may have taken place in, so if you know of any please share.

Well, hello there!
There's a new girl in town!
And she has a 🆓 NETWORKING EVENT for you!
A few changes have happened in ebn land, please allow me just a minute to fill you in...
Glenys felt the call of retirement too strong to resist any longer, and so set about looking for someone else to step into her shoes.
Turns out that someone ended up being me!
So I introduce myself to you as Nadine La Reine, new owner of ebn!
I am super, mega, ginormously excited about being the new owner of ebn!
I know the bar is high and Glenys was very well loved by the ebn network, I only hope that I can continue in this vein and am keen to get stuck into ebn and all that comes with it.
I have some plans in my mind and some tricks up my sleeve!
The first of which is my FREE NETWORKING EXTRAVAGANA!
