Bespoke Bride 🖤

I’m soooo excited to share these first shots with you from one of my Weddings.

Lydia and Nick got married last Tuesday at the fabulous
Lydia’s gown is a bespoke design, made in a stunning black glitter tulle with a black satin crepe underneath. To complete the look we added a gorgeous silver glitter cape.🖤

I also made Flower girl, Millie’s dress…. Made in the same black glitter fabric. I so love this Wedding!! 🖤

It’s so important that your Bridal dress fits you perfectly. I altered Hannah’s Bridal gown, the over skirt, sleeves and evening gown. It makes such a difference to how you feel when the dress fits you well. You can just relax and enjoy the day.

Yay! Thank goodness it’s Friday!

Apologies I have been a little quiet of late…… my holiday ended up slightly extended after having my flight home cancelled last Friday. Finally made it back though, and I’m fully back into the swing of all things Bridal.

It’s supposed to be summer so thought I would pretty up this cloudy day! Love a romantic tulle gown…… and a bit of sequin thrown too. Why not! All gowns have been handmade at my 🤍

Bridal Gown Alterations ✨

Thank you to Kirsty for sending me this shot from her Wedding a few weeks ago. ✨

I altered Kirsty’s gown for her, along with alterations on the bodice sides and hem, Kirsty had a keyhole open back made.

The original gown was buttoned all the way down, we removed the buttons, added a couple of darts so the back fitted perfectly and then edged the keyhole with some of the lace removed from the hem, creating a really pretty finish.

There are lots of possibilities when it comes to your alterations. Aside of the basics of making the dress fit perfectly, it’s always worth asking your seamstress if you’d like to make other changes to see what is possible. It can make a big difference to the gown and make it unique to you!

Prom Gown 🤍

So happy to share this gorgeous shot of Maya, wearing the Prom Gown I made her.

Made using a gorgeous silver Duchess Satin, Mayas gown is a fully corseted bodice with ruched front skirt. A slim fish tail design with a puddle train at the back.

I so loved making this gown! 🤍

I thought it was about time I shared a few stills and close ups of my brand new design….. and of course let you know her name!

Thank you to everyone who suggested ideas for a name, they were all so lovely, and it was really hard to choose! So…….

Introducing the ‘Sophia’ gown (thank you 🩷)

Sophia is made using a gorgeous Blush Pink Tulle with matching Duchess Satin underneath. The tiered skirt is complemented by a fully corseted lace up bodice with draped tulle falling softly over the shoulders. I wanted to make something dramatic but also soft and romantic, perfect for a fairytale Wedding with a slightly alternative edge. 💞

A wonderful shoot at Keythorpe Hall. The bouquet and flower crown compliment my handmade Monroe gown beautifully.

I know I have been quiet on the socials of late….. it’s been a very busy month at the Bridal Studio….. Wedding season is well and truly underway!! I am still very much here though and working on some gorgeous Bridal gowns, Prom gowns and Mother of the Bride and Groom dresses too! Hopefully I’ll be able to show you all what I have been working on very soon.

Bridal Gown Alterations 🤍

Once you have purchased your Bridal gown you will need an experienced seamstress to make sure you get the perfect fit. Bridal gowns are very different to standard clothing alterations and on your Wedding day you need the fit to be spot on, and most importantly….. comfortable.

I’d always advise meeting your seamstress before you commit, or at least have a phone conversation. You should feel confident that they know what they are doing and that you are getting all the alterations the gown requires.

For your fittings you will need the shoes you intend to wear with the gown and the underwear. It is vital your gown is fitted with exactly what you intend to wear with it on the day.

A perfectly fitted gown means you will feel comfortable and confident throughout the day….. and you won’t think about your dress at all. (As you can tell from the photo of Sophie, one of my above!)

Details ✨

The finer details are so important on your Bridal Gown, and none more so than the detail at the back of the gown.

Your guests actually spend quite a long time looking at the back of your dress, when you’re saying your vows, so it’s always nice to have a pretty fastening or interesting use of fabric at the back.

This is one of my gorgeous Lucy, who married Will last September. Lucys gown was actually made in 3 separate pieces, a bodice with two separate skirts so she could change in the evening.

The bodice was made using a beautiful ivory Duchess Satin and polka dot tulle, with the back being solely the polka dot. The final touch was a pretty button and loop fastening through the tulle. ✨

New Gown underway……. 🤍

Beautiful dusty pink tulle…..
I love this part of the design process…. Pinning and draping on the stand. It evolves as I go along. Cannot wait to be able to show the finished gown.
