P e n t e c o s t arrangement for our local church. Arranged in a piece of copper guttering, using chicken wire, floral tubes and moss. Do read on for a more detailed description of why I arranged this way for Pentecost. Each flower has been grown locally & picked from a particular place at a particular time this spring and the Holy Spirit came to Jesus’ disciples & close friends at a particular time and place in history. They all began to speak in other languages, different to their own & declared wonderful works of God. (Acts 2:1-13) Each flower stem represents the different languages - each one distinct & beautiful. I wanted the arrangement to be wild looking and allow each stem to be seen, and the copper guttering enabled me to place each stem alongside another at the base of the altar. Although we read that the Holy Spirt came in a strong wind and spread like a wildfire, it also met with each person gathered there in a unique & beautiful way & I wanted this to be reflected in the arrangement. My hope is that the arrangement both provided a focal point during the service and enhanced the congregation’s worship this Pentecost Sunday.

M i d - M a y in the shadier part of my garden - brushing past lush green & purple foliage, admiring the deep purple flowers of the clematis, observing the bees visit foxglove towers & cutting stems of nicotiana for vases and arrangements. And thinking through how I might share this garden more with others…

What a complete joy to provide jars of flowers for Eden Project Communities . The small arrangements were for the launch of this year’s Big Lunch! Eden Project Communities are working with WWF-UK to make it the greenest Big Lunch yet! The jars of flowers and foliage celebrated what’s in season now and were sourced sustainably and from my vicarage garden. Why not organise a Big Lunch on 1-2nd June!

A joy to arrange again Every year the church celebrates Fish Harvest, having a strong relationship with the Billingsgate Fish Market. I incorporated a few dried elements and Chocolate Cherry Tomatoes, Corbaea Scandens & the beautiful Helianthus ‘Lemon Queen’ in the arrangement.

This week I was asked to prepare a funeral sheaf. It was important to the family that the flowers were seasonal and organically grown. It was a great joy to arrange the sheaf and be able to use a few sunflowers that they specifically asked for. Thank you for providing the majority of the flowers.
