GLORY BE ⛪️💍

Today Paula swapped heather and hill for altar and arch; something that usually isn’t possible, unless, of course, the church has been deconsecrated. Lucky for her, St Mary's in Appin has, which meant she had the absolute joy of marrying the delightful Chloe & Jason in true Humanist style - inside a church!

Every single inch of this shabby-chic, maximalist marvel is pure magic. It’s romantic, inspirational and wildly unique; a place cherished from top to toe by its brilliant owners, Charlotte & Jamie.

Tonight, Chloe & Jason will be treated to a beautifully prepared feast of local scallops and venison, lovingly cooked by Charlotte & Jamie themselves, before retreating to their cute woodland cabin nestled in the grounds.

The first Bog Cotton elopement of 2025 was absolute winter-wedding goals!

Last week we had the pleasure of photographing and celebranting Shane and Lisa’s adventure elopement at the ever-beautiful Glencoe Lochan. And if this amazing pair, the glorious weather, and the ultra-peaceful lochside setting weren’t enough, they brought their best friend Dude along for the ride too! Have we ever mentioned that we ADORE dogs?

Some people would shy away from an outdoor ceremony in the winter but Lisa and Shane embraced the fresh air, mostly for one simple reason: they needed photos with the snowcapped mountains behind them. And let us tell you—it was 100% worth it. ❄️🏔️

After warming up with a wee dram from the traditional quaich of course, Trevor took the newly married couple, and Dude of course, up the magnificent valley for a few more shots with even bigger hills behind us. The weather inevitably turned, the wind picked up, but they powered through—stopping only when they remembered they owed Dude the chicken he had accepted as a bribe for wearing his tuxedo and bow tie.

Speaking of bow ties, there were, in fact, two bow ties for Dude and it is quite possible that Shane had forgotten his own tie and had to also wear a little pink doggy-version himself. Shane didn't even get any chicken as a reward.

If the rest of our 2025 elopements are this much fun, we’ll be absolutely over the moon!

After photographing yesterday's elopement in Glencoe I was chased back up the valley by a gorgeous sunset over Loch Achtriochtan. I was a bit chilly and tired but I decided to turn back and at least grab a quick shot of the warm light streaming through the mountains as I knew I'd regret it otherwise.

Trevor has finally returned from his January jaunt around India (look how thrilled he looked on his travels🤣) and Paula is currently living her best Zoom life planning the ceremonies of lots of our wondrous 2025 couples.

While Trevor is off basking in the Indian sun, Paula’s morning workout has involved prising her frozen Berlingo door open with a crowbar! But don’t worry, she’s found solace in a reminder of why Scottish summers reign supreme!

Lesley and David’s woodland wedding wasn’t one of our usual elopements, but it truly set the tone for the unforgettable celebrations we love to capture. 🌿

💍 They tied the knot with their friends and family, surrounded by ancient trees in the breathtaking Larachmhor Gardens, celebrated with stunning beachside photos, planted a beautiful "tree of love," and danced the night away under the stars at a magical forest ceilidh! 🌲💫

Come rain or shine, there's one thing that's pretty much a certainty at wilderness elopements. Brides-to-be should come to terms with the fact that their glorious dress is most probably going to get a bit dirty! But that dirt tells a story and we LOVE it!

Windswept would be an understatement for Ella & Liam’s incredible elopement today. At one point during the ceremony the whole loch appeared to rise and swirl into a giant spindrift. Absolutely magical!

CHEESIN’ AT TIORAM 💍🧀

This afternoon we put a ring on the gorgeous L & M down at Castle Tioram (pronounced Cheerum). Not only is this location a SUPERB place to say “I do”, it’s also a really special place for us as it’s where we first worked together at Becky & Leigh’s elopement back in 2018. Bog Cotton Elopements was born ❤️

ELOPEMENT "WITTERS"👼💍

Thankfully, we're not talking jitters here, we're taking the ultimate WITNESS / BABYSITTER combo!

Lots of our couples simply want to disappear into the wilds, just them and their kiddos, and put a ring on it. No fuss. No fanfare. However, this can prove tricky as couples are legally required to have two witnesses over the age of 16 present.

Happily, Trevor can be Witness no.1 & we can always organise another (who'll occasionally double-up as a babysitter)! Here's Paula's mum, Patricia, in action with wee Isla at Claire & Alex's GORGEOUS Camusdarach beach ceremony 😍
