Pest Control on the plot pretty much looks like this. Frogs, toads, birds, and bugs; they all have to eat something!
Thus the snails and slugs and pesty bugs are allowed...they are essential. Got to keep one’s hardworking staff in clover because you never know when you might need them desperately! It’s all about striking the right balance but that’s easy enough for me to say when no one has me over a barrel on my margins, I’m not bound to any one buyer, gosh I even have other jobs besides this little flower business! Many farmers do, farmers of all sorts.
Next time you buy cheap food or cheap flowers take a minute or two to ponder what the farmer got paid for your purchase...and how many toads got fat bellies amongst the rows.

This bouquet of wild colour crossed a couple of rivers and went over a number of hills before reaching its final riverside destination—a little bit of Lancashire November for a wonderful customer to enjoy indoors. I take in the natural beauty of the local fells most days and like to think our flowers and arrangements embody a real sense of place—never lose sight of beauty where you are, because it’s usually there to be found. One does not have to look far in gorgeous Garstang. ❤️
