This shot was taken just over a year ago at when myself and threw a party that has stayed with me. We had all our friends there and played tunes we loved to the people we care about, you can’t get better than that right?

I’ll be returning to the Deck this Saturday with myself, , Evil Genius & Emporium for some ‘funky, dirty, fresh and uplifting’ vibes!

So I’m absolutely stoked to have made a whole load of new friends through DJing over the past couple of years and that’s been immense and I really can’t wait to get to know you all better, but, I also have some beautiful friends that don’t mind that I’ve barely seen them recently, not turned up to everything I probably should have, talked non stop about music and generally annoyed the hell out of them with my dj shizz. Clearly feeling hormonal and emotional but thank you all for coming and supporting, it means a lot 🥹 and those that I haven’t seen as much, sorry.

A mix of minimal and house tracks with tight rolling rhythms and subtle late night acid house tinges... tracks from artists including East End Dubs and Robbie Doherty leaning towards an underground & modern house sound.

‘Finding a sound is an ongoing process and I’m feeling comfortable with where my mixes and music collection are going right now, I’m carving out a sound for Becky Blue and am buzzing to keep moving forward’.

Stoked to get the news Boardmasters are sponsoring a scholarship program with my DJ school Amplify SW! Details on how to apply will be coming soon and the emphasis will be on prioritising minorities in the music industry 🎶

I can’t believe the crazy support my not-for-profit company has had, and it’s so great to get this level of recognition after only a year and a half of operating.

When I started DJing myself I was surprised by the misogyny I experienced at the start of my journey, which is shared by countless other minority artists. This got blown open by the conference I attended last week at Falmouth University with Vick Bains key note speech revealing shocking statistics. When I speak about experiences I get negativity from white male DJs and promoters, private messages and phone calls to say it’s better to NOT speak out and hate speech. Instead of listening to them I started my own event brand Freestyler Events, started the Amplify youth project to inspire more teens and promote positive mental health. And now have almost 20k followers across all my social media platforms with people supporting the work I’m doing. Building community through music.

If you’re not happy with something, BE the change you want to see in the world.

Who’s been loving shedding some layers of neoprene and enjoying the swell over the past week or so?

I get asked about my DJ name Becky Blue every now and again and why I chose it. These shots do some explaining as to my choice, the sea is my happy place. I’m not great at switching off or relaxing, but the sea enforces times of waiting between sets looking out to the horizon.

The decks are somewhere I’ve been spending a lot of time lately so I was stoked to be captured at my local break.
