Chesterblade Hills
Chesterblade Hills is a family farm nestled between Frome and Glastonbury and is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery Somerset has to offer. Ed Green and his family have farmed here for seven generations and witnessed much change. Where once society demanded food production, now the emphasis has changed to one that requires a custodianship that helps mitigate climate change, creates wildlife rich habitat and provides a place where people can reconnect with themselves and the land. Planting new woodland, creating ponds, building natural dams and establishing more species-rich grasslands are all part of this process, alongside an overall ethos to create a place of magic in the natural world where nature and people can flourish together.
The Green Heart Space is an off-grid workshop and activity space within the Chesterblade Hills site, perfect for corporate away days, retreats, workshops and educational activities. The space boasts spectacular views and has been thoughtfully designed to inspire creativity and connection. The indoor wooden cabin area is fully equipped with a gas kitchen, mains water, dining and chill out areas and is suitable for groups of up to 30 people. The site also has an outdoor fire amphitheatre, ritual circle and firepit, plenty of outdoor seating areas, compost toilets, a wooded stream for exploring and has beautiful countryside and places to walk right on its doorstep. Overnight camping is available.
What wildlife do we see here?
An abundance of wildlife thrives in the area. Birds including buzzards, sparrow hawks, lesser spotted woodpeckers, tawny and barn owls, as well as finches, great t**s, blue t**s, crows, rooks and swallows. We also see wild deer, hares, rabbits, foxes and plenty of badger sets, as well as a plethora of insects, butterflies and moths.
Where's the added magic?
The ancient hilltop fort of Small Down Knoll rises above the landscape, providing spectacular 360 degree views from the top. Chesterblade Hills is situated on the Saint Mary ley line which runs from St Michaelโs Mount (Cornwall), through Glastonbury Tor, all the way to East Anglia.
