When choosing your bridesmaids choose from the heart. So many people end up choosing bridesmaid based on who they think they should ask.

Being a bridesmaid isn’t just about wearing a dress and walking down the aisle on the day. Your bridesmaids should be there to support you in the planning and in the lead up to the big day and help you enjoy the process and keep calm.

The key thing to remember here is that it is your wedding and you need to do what makes you happy 💛

When choosing your wedding cake don't forget to consider the weather.

If you're having an outdoor wedding in a hot climate, stay away from whipped cream, meringue and buttercream (they melt). Ask your cake maker about summer icing options or opt for fondant covered cake which will hold up much better in the heat.

Wedding insurance isn't the sexiest of topics but it's an important one as the COVID 19 pandemic has shown us.

It's always best to buy your insurance as soon as you start to pay out for your wedding. However if you do book services before taking out the policy they will be covered from the date the insurance is paid for and issued.

Check that your insurance policy covers public liability incase of injury to your guests.

The most important insurance consideration for couples getting married are the levels of cancellation cover, protection against failure of suppliers and cover for the dress.

Make sure you read through the policy documents BEFORE you purchase the insurance to ensure it is right for you.

TOP TIP TUESDAY

The art of finding the perfect wedding day shoe.

Your wedding shoes have a major role to fulfil. You have to like them but you also have to wear them for a long time (potentially 15 hours!) so here are my top tips for find the perfect shoe.

• Find your dress first - your shoes need to compliment your dress.
• Don't leave it until last minute to buy your shoes - you will need to wear them for your dress fittings to ensure a polished final look
• Research different shoe styles
• Always try shoes on before committing to them - wear them at home (keep them clean) for at least an hour so you can gauge how comfortable they are.
• Don't be afraid of a splash of colour if that's your thing
• Consider your venue especially if your getting married outside or on a beach
• Prioritise comfort - consider heel height and width

Wedding day management is the perfect service for you if you're happy to plan your own wedding but need a safe pair of hands to actually deliver your wedding day for you.

You will hand over management of your wedding to me around 6 weeks before the big day. I will liaise with your suppliers and create a detailed schedule for the day.

On your wedding day I will ensure everything is ready on time and in the style you envisioned. I'll manage the suppliers all day long and will deal with any issues that may arise.

All you need to do is enjoy your special day.

ABOUT ME

I've had a flurry of new followers in the past week so I thought I better introduce myself.

I'm Sarah and I run SLC Events. I plan and deliver bespoke and beautiful celebrations across Bristol and the South West. I have a soft spot for marquee wedding and love starting with a blank canvas to bring a vision to life.

Some facts about me:

* I have worked in weddings and events for 16 years
* I once chaperoned Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster at
an event and a picture of me and my clipboard appeared
in the Daily Mail.
* I have a strong dislike for bananas
* I was a bridesmaid for the first time last year
* I had two gap years and love to travel

Wedding speeches can be really funny and entertaining for your guests. However, if they can go on for too long, guests can start to get bored and restless.

I always advise my couples to keep it short and sweet - 5 minutes is more than enough.

Lots of couples are going ahead with small weddings so they can get hitched without having to wait for the restrictions to lift.

Smaller weddings can be just as beautiful as bigger celebrations and having a smaller group can make for a more personal and intimate day.
