'For your tomorrow, We gave our today.'

In June this year I paid my respects at the British Normandy Memorial to coincide with the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
What a wonderful memorial it is, made all the more special at the time by the wonderful Standing with Giants art installation which is now in Buckinghamshire.
We remember ♥️

What a stunning venue 💘 6 weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being a guest at a wonderful wedding of a wonderful couple 🍾🥂💍

The Ashton Memorial was the backdrop for not only the ceremony, but the wedding breakfast and evening do, also.
Highly recommended as a wedding venue!

Recently, we said farewell to Dot who used to sell poppies for the Lytham & Ansdell branch of the British Legion.
A standard bearer from the charity was present at the service, which was wonderful.
A skilled seamstress, Dot also used to make uniforms for the Forces.

Rest well, Dot. You won't be forgotten.

Last week, it was an honour to lead Bob's celebration of life.
Bob served on various ships in The Royal Navy including HMS Eagle which came under fire during the Suez crisis. Upon leaving the service, he worked at BNFL until his retirement.

It was wonderful to have representatives from the Navy and the British Legion.
A bugler played 'The Last Post' and 'Reveille.' I read 'Crossing the Bar' a poem by Tennyson which uses nautical metaphor to illustrate the transition from one life to the next.
The Naval Hymn played him in and we concluded with 'Fly Me to the Moon' by a favourite artist of his, Frank Sinatra.

Rest well, Sir. We salute you.

Celebrating Life - Alec 🤍

It was a privilege to lead the service of my dear friend's dad, Alec, this month who I've known since primary school.

I read memories of his time as a mechanic; running a wallpaper and paint shop; trips to the TT races; and camping holidays in the UK and abroad with his wife and children.

The service included a poem from Alfie the dog (touching and hilarious in equal measure) and we concluded with the cheery 'Bring Me Sunshine' by Morecambe and Wise whose comedy he enjoyed very much.

It was an honour and a pleasure leading Nat and Dan's ceremony this summer 💘 As they live in Oz, the vast majority of the planning was done by videocall and email before meeting in person the week before the wedding.

I read their unique love story then,
with the help of family and their gorgeous children, they quite literally tied the knot before making their vows and exchanging rings.

This World Mental Health Day I made time for myself between appointments to get moving and get some fresh air.
I wasn't quite sure if it felt like autumn or summer! What a beautiful day 🌞
Always try and find some 'you' time in the day, appreciate the little things and never be afraid to ask for help if you need it 💚

3 weeks ago today I had the honour of leading Helen and Ryan's beautiful wedding ceremony at Gibbon Bridge Hotel & Restaurant 👰🏼‍♀️💍🤵🏼‍♂️

After a windy start to the day (actually it was stormy!) it cleared to be a glorious afternoon.

I'm still smiling at the fabulous adaptation two of the Helen & Ryan's friends made to a poem to make it truly personal (and funny!) for them. A second poem was read by the bride's aunty. Two very special touches I've no doubt the bride & groom never forget. Wonderful.

Great to work with Kirsty Rogers Wedding Singer too who sang beautifully.
