Say goodbye to plastic festival tents
Plastic ‘festival tents’ should, in my view, be either banned or heavily taxed. Over 1/3 of tents are now left behind at UK festivals, which when you think about this makes you realise why we have such a problem with our general waste in this country. Only 9% of plastic packing is currently recycled in Britain (5% in the US) and the rest is exported, incinerated or stuffed in the ground for another generation to clear-up. Crazy hey?
It costs a festival about £200/tonne to clear mixed, contaminated waste. Plastic-free cardboard tents can be recycled with other cardboard and the waste is worth about £75/tonne.
Tents should be either durable and easy to repair or if they are designed to be disposable; made from sustainable materials which are renewable and easy to recycle everywhere.
What do REELtents cost?
About the same price as a plastic one, but because they’re digitally printed in Britain they can be branded which turns them into an ambient media opportunity for any discerning brand wanting to not only do the right thing, but also tell their amazing story at the same time.
