Hi everyone, although I’m still on maternity leave I have volunteered to do a wreath workshop to help raise funds for St Hugh’s School in Woodhall Spa. If anyone is interested the workshop is next Thursday (23rd November), held at the school. You can book your place by emailing [email protected]. There will also be festive refreshments available. All the foliage and decorations have been donated by and . It should be a great atmosphere with a lovely group of people.
As most of you know I’m currently taking some maternity leave so I just wanted to introduce you to our newest, littlest flower fairy! Edie Gwen was born at home on Monday 23rd January and we’re totally smitten! Massive apologies for the delay in getting back to people’s enquiries. I had forgotten how hard the first few months were! 😴 I’m sure we’ll be getting into a routine soon 🤞so I will be back on form to answer emails and enquiries properly. Wow - what a first full year it’s been! I wanted to thank you all for your support and custom this year - there’s been weddings, funerals, workshops, craft fairs, individual orders for Mother’s Day, Easter, dinner parties, events, Easter and Spring Wreaths, Christmas Wreaths, bouquets and table centrepieces. And I’ve enjoyed every moment. As most of you know I’ll be taking a bit of time out in 2023 as I’m due to have another baby in 5 weeks but please do get in touch with any enquiries for smaller projects and funeral work. I’ll be also offering consultations for 2024 weddings. A beautiful bespoke wreath tribute for a client’s, and her family’s, much loved Granny.
It’s always such an honour and a privilege to be asked, and trusted, with doing someone’s funeral flowers. It really is my favourite job as it’s so reflective and peaceful and as I’ve said before - an absolute honour.
Apart from January and February 2023 I’ll be continuing with funeral flowers throughout my maternity leave so please feel free to get in contact for a quote.

I’m not sure what the availability is like but Tillow and Co are also hosting some wreath making workshops in Woodhall Spa and Hagworthingham.
A while ago I posted about not doing any of my own wreath making workshops this year. I did promise that I would recommend other local wreath making workshops from other talented florists, flower Arrangers and talented flower farmers.

I’ve been a bit quiet over the last few months and that’s mainly to do with the fact we’re expecting a baby at the end of January 2023!
With that in mind I’ll be taking some time out. I won’t be taking any wedding flower bookings for the whole of 2023. I will be happy to recommend some other local and very talented fellow florists, flower arrangers and flower farmers though!
I will be totally closed from 10th December (I have one last wedding on the 17th December which will be my last working day before I go on Maternity leave).
I have committed to a private Wreath Making Workshop for a couple of clients but won’t be holding any for the public this year. I’ll do a post in a week or two with some other wreath making workshops held locally by some amazing florists and flower arrangers.
I will continue to do funeral flowers, corporate/private bespoke workshops until 10th December and then again from May 2023. I will also be taking orders for Wreaths until 10th December.
Please DM me for any orders before 10th December. And please feel free to DM me for recommendations of other florists whilst I’m off work.

Last week I had the honour and the pleasure of creating these funeral tributes for a much loved father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and grandfather to my clients. I worked to a specific brief and was thrilled with the results.
The 17 inch open heart wreath casket tribute included: red (Naomi) roses, white (Alpe D’huez) roses, purple Veronica, purple Lissianthus, cream hypericum, leather leaf, large soft Ruscus and small soft Ruscus.
The 12 inch round wreath included Chrysanthemums Bonita and 5 yellow roses (to symbolise the number of siblings) small soft Ruscus and leather leaf. Around the bottom of the wreath I attached a concertinaed yellow ribbon to compliment the roses.

The Lincoln Cathedral Flower Festival will take place in August 2022 celebrating 950 years of Lincoln Cathedral, and the visionaries who had the
White wedding Bridal bouquet, buttonholes and corsages. I forgot to photograph the bridesmaids and flower girl bouquets. It was a very early start (4am) and I needed to have them delivered to Low Marnham Notts by 11:30 so taking photographs wasn’t high on my priority list. Hopefully someone at the wedding took photos that I will be able to use 🤞And I’m sure they will be better than mine! 😂
Last week I had the pleasure of creating beautiful and elegant white wedding arrangements for Rebecca and Daniel. We decided on using Avalanche and Alp D’huez Roses, white Veronica, Gypsophila, White Lissianthus, Pina Colada Chrysanthemums and White Stocks bought from both Sunflowers of Spalding and and also a range of locally grown flowers from and . The flowers were complimented with eucalyptus, Ruscus and leatherleaf as well as locally grown hostas and palm leaves. It was another team effort with in charge of the aisle decorations and in charge of the table centrepieces. It always makes all the hard work worth while when the bride sees them and is over the moon with the finished arrangements and overall effect. I was so pleased with the bouquets, buttonholes and corsages. Don’t the succulents look incredible 😍 It was the first time I’d worked with succulents. I’m not going to lie - they were pretty fiddly to wire (especially for a bouquet) but so totally worth it. The bride was over the moon with them and said everyone thought they were amazing.
Wow - what an incredible week it’s been. It’s certainly been a busy one! On Tuesday and Wednesday I had a huge amount of flowers arrive for Clare and Matthew’s wedding. They took a lot of conditioning and by Thursday we were ready to get started on the 102 table centrepieces.
The wedding was in a Tipi at a stunning walled garden setting in Hackthorn, Lincolnshire. We needed to stay sympathetic to the surroundings and went with a vintage, garden style with a modern twist. We used predominantly Chrysanthemums and Gypsophila in the table centrepieces which consisted of three different sized zinc buckets. Six per table as they were long tables as opposed to round tables. The larger of the three also contained succulents - which are so lovely to work with but also very fiddly as they require a lot of wiring work. The medium sized arrangements also contained Eryngiums (one of my favourites) and the smallest arrangements were just Chrysanthemums and Gyps. For Foliage we just used Eucalyptus Cinerea and Baby Blue. It took a team of four of us and a total of 11 hours to complete all 102 of them but my goodness did they look amazing once we finished! Massive thanks goes out to my super talented and very hard working friend Estelle Hawkes who has helped me throughout the whole wedding process (I couldn’t have pulled any of this off without her!), the amazingly talented and extremely knowledgeable Hannah Benson from Hannahs Flowers (if you don’t follow her already please do she’s an incredible local flower farmer and arranger and delivers her own locally grown flowers- I highly recommend her) who helped with the centrepieces all day on Thursday, and the naturally talented, bubbly and beautiful Molly Scarborough who also helped with the conditioning as well as the centrepieces. What a team we made!!
On Friday it took two van loads to transport all the centrepieces to the venue along with all the flowers. Thanks so much to our friend Simon Howden (Fuzz) for your help with the transportation! We also took the rest of the flowers and milk churns so we could arrange those on site. We needed to collect the columns for the pedestals (which were used for the ceremony) from my aunt in Ingham before we got started. We also met Chris at the venue from Myweddinghire as we had hired the wood slices, hurricane lamps and LED pillar candles for the tables from him. If you ever need any wedding props I can seriously recommend them. They have so much stock and are very reasonably priced too!
It took the majority of the day to put together the pedestals, large milk churns and the smaller milk churns for the bar and tidy up the venue ready for the big event the following day. We then headed back to my workshop so I could start with the bouquets (1 bridal bouquet and 2 bridesmaids bouquets), 6 buttonholes, 3 corsages and 2 wrist corsages. I think I got finished up just after midnight. 😴
On Saturday morning Estelle and I delivered the bouquets, buttonholes and corsages and then headed back to the venue to put up the floral archway on the gate to the walled garden and set everything up in position ready for the day.
It all looked so beautiful. Thank you so much Clare and Matthew for trusting me with all the flowers for your special day. Definitely the biggest job I’ve ever done but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and worked alongside some incredible people. It’s been such an opportunity!
Now to put my waterproofs on 😟 and head back to the venue to pack down and return all the hired and borrowed pieces. At least it stayed dry all week and for yesterday’s wedding.

I will start the session with a demonstration and then you and your guests will replicate the design or, depending on your confidence and level, go freestyle using the techniques I have explained.

Yesterday I received a HUGE order of flowers for a wedding on Saturday. Most people don’t realise how long the preparation process takes. I literally didn’t stop from 10:30 in the morning until 7pm at night. To condition flowers you need to bleach all your buckets and flower containers so that there are no bugs and bacteria. You then need to treat the water (especially for a wedding) as you want the flowers to be well fed and hydrated so they will be perfect for the event. When the flowers arrive they always look a little worse for wear as they been packaged up without water - sometimes for days if you’re buying them from abroad. (I have got a couple of orders coming from local growers Hannahs Flowers Perfect Patch Flowers but those flowers won’t need as much conditioning as they’re literally being cut, put in water and delivered down the road!) Once you unwrap the flowers they will need their stems tidying, leaves and thorns removing and a couple of inches removing from the bottom of the stems.
