Gosh, what a 28 days it's been!
It has been the most physically, emotionally and mentally challenging 4 weeks. I could not have got through it without Mr Q, my man deserves a goddam saint hood.
Move over St. Roch, and let St. Paul add patron saint of total knee replacements to his list!
I knew it was going to be hard, but as a do-er that rarely stops and is so used to cracking on, during this time I have been absolutely floored.
It's been bloody tough, there have been lows and lots of tears, tears of frustration, tears of discomfort and tears of what the f**k have I done, so keeping a positive, mental attitude has been, challenging!
Things I was not expecting...
I was not expecting my leg to feel like it has, so bloody heavy and as though it no longer belonged to me. It's been like trying to make a piece of lead pipe move like a leg should, nigh on impossible, and because I bled so extensively during surgery, my bruising both internal and external was flipping epic. 4 weeks on and there is still a hint of discolouration.
The tiredness, omg, I have never nanna napped so much. I can only presume this is the bodies way of saying, stop, rest, recover. Sleeping in bed hasn't been plain sailing either, waking to turn because you are aching and need to change position turns into a series of what next manoeuvres because honestly, it's like the brain and leg are no longer connected to just do these movements naturally.
I was also not expecting my new metal knee to make little noises, just like my old buggered one did, that has freaked me out a bit, but actually turns out it's not uncommon.
There's still a long way to go with recovery, but I'm on the right road. The thing I have to keep reminding myself about is to measure progress not in days, but weeks. Daily there seems to be no improvement which feels disheartening, but weekly, you look back and go well I couldn't do that this time last week.
It truly is a step at a time, a day at a time. There's no quic
The most beautiful things...
Here is just a teeney, tiny little taster snippet of the incredible elopement film taken by the amazing Tiree Dawson Photography for Lara & Darren's elopement wedding Cragwood Country House Hotel in November.
Wow, just wow!
Tiree includes a beautiful short video to accompany your wedding day photos in her elopement package, and boy, it is worth it.
Whenever I get a flower enquiry for an elopement wedding at Cragwood and Tiree is named as the photographer, I always think what a lucky couple you are because your wedding day is going to be pure magic 💫
