It's World Mental Health Day.

Giving consideration to your mental health is so important. We all need something that gives us some time to feel happy, peaceful and fulfilled, and we're all different when it comes to what we enjoy.

For many people, animals are amazing for our mental health. Whether it's the feeling of being needed, or the bracing walks your dog makes sure you go on, or just the feeling of calm you get when your cat sits on your lap demanding strokes, animals can have such a positive impact on our well-being.

We see this at our sessions a lot. We've actually seen tears of joy, from young and old, when interacting with our animals, and many children and adults are astounded by their own bravery when they hold a snake or giant creepy crawly for the first time!

Even for those of us who have to look after and keep all these animals clean and healthy, the positive impact our furry, scaly, feathered and creepy crawly friends have on our well-being FAR outweighs any negatives!

Rabbits can be so difficult. They really do need the company of their own kind, so it's important to try and find them a friend they can bond with. Congratulations to Cookie & Rusty for finally realising they're better together!

Carys is a giant stick insect, a Ramulus nematodes, otherwise known as the Big Blue Stick Insect. Carys isn't blue because she's female, the males have beautiful, bright blue bodies when they are adults.

You won't often see Carys out and about on our visits, she's not the best kind of stick insect for handling due to her extremely long, thin legs!
