KIND WORDS // "I couldn't recommend Michelle's services enough. We had a difficult time planning our first attempt at a wedding (which was cancelled by the pandemic) and so we were looking for help with the second attempt in September. We thought we had most things covered after the first attempt but, as they say, you don't know what you don't know. Michelle asked questions in our first meeting with her that we'd never even considered previously She got to the heart of what represented us as a couple and she turned that into something beautiful and personal.

We had some issues with suppliers along the way - Michelle handle them all very aptly, and took the stress out of what easily could've been a painful experience. I also had family drama along the way, Michelle was sensitive to this and made suggestions for how to ensure continued smooth running. And then on the day itself, Michelle was a godsend! I had several guests comment on how calm I was through the day - a genuine big thank you to all the forethought and planning that Michelle put in to make it so easy, and all her efforts on the day." BLOG POST // QUALITY FABRIC GIFT WRAPPING // This week on the blog, Cathy and Yukki from are introducing us to beautiful wedding furoshiki gift wrapping.

Furoshiki originated as a very special cloth for the wrapping of the treasures of the Japanese Imperial Court, in a city just outside Kyoto over a thousand years ago. Zusetsu is now the largest supplier of the traditional, authentic Japanese furoshiki in the UK.

This method of wrapping is increasing in popularity as many of us are reacting to the sea of plastic and waste in daily life. People want something simpler to wrap items in but also something that is beautiful and reusable. So instead of using unrecyclable paper and plastic tape to wrap your wedding gifts and table favours in, why not create a stunning table setting with the elegance of furoshiki.

In Japan, a bride would be gifted a furoshiki in which to wrap her wedding trousseau, and she would continue to use her furoshiki throughout her married life. The thought behind all of these furoshiki is that they will be absorbed into the family after the ceremony and become a well loved and well used gift wrap for many years to come.

BLOG POST // SUSTAINABLE WEDDING VEILS // In the age of fast fashion many brides have hit the pause button. Online searches for sustainable fashion are on the increase, and many brides are now looking for more eco-friendly bridal fashion...and that includes wedding veils.

But can you really wear a wedding veil that has been recycled? We spoke to Rebekah McCann-Williams, Creative Designer at to find out.

Extending the lifespan of a garment is one of the key elements of sustainable fashion. Stored in lofts all over the country are beautiful wedding veils – once cherished as a precious garment and now almost forgotten and hidden from site. With the expertise of a wedding veil designer, this can be a wonderfully creative way to continue your sustainable wedding planning, by choosing to restore an existing wedding veil to its former glory. Imagine the impact if only a small percentage of brides choose to repurpose an old wedding veil rather than buying new.

Check out our latest blog post to find out more about veil restoration, repair and redesign (link in bio).

AUTUMN WEDDING TIP // The Autumn brings bright, crisp days, colourful trees and early evening sunsets.

🧡The falling leaves make for the most beautiful photography backdrop, they also make the most wonderful, natural, seasonal confetti. Spend a day wandering around the wood the week or so before your wedding collecting a basket full of colourful, crisp leaves.

💛It can be a difficult time for many to get time off work, with the children returning back to school and the recent summer holidays, annual leave can be hard to come by for many. Think about choosing a venue that is easily accessible for the majority of guests and that they could travel to and home in the day.

💚Money can also be tight in the autumnal months, with many paying off summer holidays and starting to save for Christmas.

SUSTAINABLE LUXURY // This week our recent styled shoot showcasing sustainable luxury was featured on ⁣

"Set in the heart of the dreaming spires, the Bodleian Libraries is a historic venue steeped in romance and elegance. The spaces feature late gothic architecture in the Divinity School and a fan vaulted ceiling in Convocation House, offering a unique yet traditional Oxford experience.⁣

This shoot isn’t just about showcasing the venue, but it has an important message at its core – sustainability. The venue pulled together a local team of conscious suppliers that are either working sustainably or working towards it. We hope this inspires you in your own planning and choices." ⁣

CHEERS // Have you thought about switching to UK wine for your wedding? In 2020 launched its Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB) certification scheme, in recognition of the growing wine industry’s environmental responsibility from vineyard to bottle. ⁣🍾

They launched with 29 founding members, including some of our favourites ⁣

They've also created a carbon calculator for vineyards to help them to understand their emissions. 💚⁣

KIND WORDS // I can’t believe its been 3 years since this beautiful couple got married! It was such a pleasure managing the day for them.

"From the very first contact with Michelle she was friendly, helpful and informative. Nothing was too much trouble and she made some really useful suggestions as to how to make our day run as we wanted it to. We can’t thank her enough for all of her help in making our day the most wonderful experience. Michelle went above and beyond.” ⠀⠀

IT'S GETTING HOT IN HERE // If you're getting married in the July or August you should consider the weather. Right now we're experiencing a heatwave, and for weddings, inside or out, that can bring some challenges.

☀️Marquees get hot and trap the heat. If you're thinking about having a marquee make sure the sides can be opened or removed altogether. Consider cooler alternatives like tipis, stretch tents and yurts.

🌳Trees are your friend, they provide much needed shade and help to keep your guests comfortable through what is usually a long day. Putting some seating under the tree will encourage people to take a break from the sun.

🪑Think about the furniture - no one wants to be sitting on a hot metal chair in the heat of the day!

💧Keeping hydrated is essential in the heat. Talk to your caterer about providing self service water with reusable cups.

🌜Instead of a morning or even afternoon ceremony, opt for an early evening wedding when the temperature is cooler. The long Summer days mean you'll still have plenty of daylight and a whole day to get ready!

CONSCIOUS CATERING // Did you know that one of the simplest sustainable changes you can make to your wedding day is to add more plant based foods to your menu? ⠀⁣

Be creative with you menu. It’s not for everyone, but you could consider incorporating more plant based dishes into your wedding breakfast. Vegetarian canapés, side dishes, or vegan desserts maybe? It’ll have a lower impact on the planet, without sacrificing the taste as plant-based foods, on average, consume far fewer resources to produce.⠀⁣

Having an open, honest conversation with your caterers is key. Talk to them about where they source their produce, the more local they are, the less carbon footprint they have!⠀⁣

Be creative about where the raw ingredients come from. 🌽🌶🫑There are also lots of fantastic companies that can provide you with tasty, seasonal produce that would have previously been destined for the rubbish bin.⁣

SUMMER PLANNING // This week we've been busy planning for 2022 Summer weddings as well as confirming the details for the coming months, and it got me thinking. What are the things you should think about when planning a Summer wedding? ⁣

Although we all love the warmth of the sun on our face, your guests certainly don't want to sit in an hour long ceremony in the hottest part of the day.⁣

Consider carefully who you really want to be there on your day. August is a prime holiday month, with the majority of families with children taking at least one holiday. July and June less so, but are still popular months for weddings so although they might not be on holiday, they might be invited to another wedding! Get your save the dates out early!⁣

Carefully consider who is most important to you and your groom to be there — and get your save-the-dates out there early.⁣

Summer weddings usually have a longer planning lead time due to it being such a popular few months. We recommend at least 18 months, but of course, it can be done in less. Our planning record for a Summer wedding this year was 3 days!⁣

COCKTAIL TIME... AGAIN // It's that time of the week again, although rather than a Tuesday night we're switching to a Sunday. This week's cocktail is... Passionfruit Martini

❤️ 2 ripe passion fruits (they should have a crinkly appearance), halved
🧡 60ml vanilla vodka
💛 30ml passoa
💚 1 tbsp lime juice
💙 1 tbsp sugar syrup
💙 prosecco , to serve

Scoop the seeds from one of the passion fruits into the glass of a cocktail shaker, add the vodka, passoa, lime juice and sugar syrup. Add a handful of ice and shake well, strain into 2 martini glasses, top up with prosecco, then add half a passion fruit to each. Serve immediately.

SUSTAINABLE LUXURY // Sustainability isn't a style, it's a choice, a conscious way of planning your wedding with people and planet in mind. ⁣

Earlier this month it was my pleasure to work alongside some of my favourite suppliers, all of whom are at different stages of their sustainable journey. The most important thing (following on from my recent post about asking questions) is that they're open and honest about where they are and where they want to go. ⁣

Together we wanted to bust the myth that sustainable weddings have to take place in a barn, with wild flowers, twine and wood slices. Don't get me wrong, I love a natural countryside wedding, but that type of styling isn't the only option. A sustainable wedding can look and feel how you want it to, luxury, boho, industrial, rustic, fairground, the list goes on... it's about making conscious choices, working with suppliers that you trust and share your ethos and vision. ⁣

WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD YOU ASK // Today I spoke to Bernadette from the about Sustainable weddings, and what changes you could make when planning your wedding to make it more environmentally conscious. ⁣

If you're planning your wedding and want to make sure it's more sustainable then it's important to start by asking the right questions.⁣

💚 Do you have a sustainability policy? ⁣
💙 What do you do with waste? ⁣
💜 Do you buy local?⁣

You need to develop a relationship with your suppliers and a key part of that is trust. You need to trust your suppliers will do what they say they will do. ⁣

Becoming a sustainable business is a process and it's not going to happen overnight, but what you should be looking for in the answers from your suppliers is honesty and integrity. They may not be fully sustainable yet, but the important thing is that they are working towards it and know how they're going to get there. ⁣

Don't be afraid to ask the question! 🙋‍♀️ ⁣

COCKTAIL TIME // A few weeks ago I posted an Old Fashioned recipe and it got me thinking... what would your couples cocktail be? I'm going to post a recipe a week - give them a go and let me know your favourite. 💚⁣

First up... the Mojito!⁣

❤️ 1 tsp granulated sugar⁣
🧡 small handful mint leaves, plus extra sprig to serve⁣
💛 60ml rum⁣ (white or dark)
💚 juice of 1 lime⁣
💙 soda water, to taste⁣

Muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves in a small jug, crushing the mint as you go – you can use the end of a rolling pin for this. Pour into a tall glass and add a handful of ice.⁣

Pour over the rum, stirring with a long-handled spoon. Top up with soda water. Garnish with a mint sprig. Enjoy!⁣

INVITE LIST // Who are you going to invite and what role will they have in the wedding? Start with the immediate wedding party, then close family members and friends. ⁣

Weddings come in all shapes, sizes and durations, and although the average number of guests attending a wedding in 2019 was 80, smaller weddings are becoming more popular, and not just because of the imposed pandemic restrictions.⁣

If you're planning a sustainable wedding, thinking carefully about who you invite and where they are travelling from, can play a huge part in reducing your wedding carbon footprint.⁣

GET BUDGETING // One of the first things to think about when planning your wedding is the finances. It can be confusing, and the costs overwhelming. It’s important to sit down together and have an honest conversation about what you want to spend on your wedding. It's also important to understand over what period of time you’ll be spending it. 🗓

👉Create a supplier schedule within your budget, so that once you start to talk to suppliers you can build a payment timeline to see what needs to be paid and when.

👉Include a contingency fund! As in life, expect the unexpected. We advise couples to try to build in an additional 5-10% as a 'just in case' fund. If it’s not used, then put it towards an even better honeymoon or 1st anniversary holiday!

In most cases your budget will form many of your decisions and allow you to start your venue and supplier search.

If you'd like help with budgeting for your sustainable wedding, get in touch. 💚

SET THE DATE // Before setting a date you first need to think about the time of year you’d like to get married. Our seasons bring with them different pros and cons, and some seasons will suit you as a couple more than others. 🌱☀️🍂❄️

Think about what you want from your day, do you want an outdoor ceremony? Or maybe to spend the night dancing away under the stars?

The season will impact all elements of your day, from the venue to your menu.

Once you’ve decided on a season, look at the months within it and narrow it down further. Are there any bank holidays? Is there one month that stands out? Then think about what day(s) you’d like your wedding. A weekend or weekday?

It’s always best to have a couple of date options, as when looking for venues, if you have some flexibility you’re more likely to get your preferred one (especially if you're planning a late 2021 or 2022 wedding!).

If you need some help working out which season might be the right one for you, pop over to the blog and read our article about to find the right season for you!

Over the years I continue to be fortunate to work with amazing companies and couples across the country, giving me the opportunity to work in a large variety of venues with many different suppliers.
