Well done team GCU Racing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great to see Student Motorsport growing in Scotland

A group of GCU students are designing and building their own racing car to compete in the final phase of an international competition at Silverstone in July. IMechE Formula Student, an educational engineering competition run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), sees 100 university teams from around the globe compete in events with the cars they have designed. GCU Racing's vehicle will perform in challenges to prove its handling, acceleration, endurance and fuel economy and the team will present their business case and design to industry experts.

It was great to see a handful of college students from West Lothian College take part in Monklands Sporting Car Club Gymkhana event. Special mention to Darren who took home the driver of the day award for his efforts regardless of the fact he had never been behind the wheel before today. Thanks to the organisers and here's to next time 👍👍👍 if your college or university want to get involved then please get in touch.

Yesterday was the launch of this academic year's Scottish Student Motorsports Challenge. A number of students attended Scotkart Indoor Karting to take part in a Le Man style tag team endurance karting event.

Great opportunity for University of Strathclyde students to try their hand at entry level motorsport

AUTOTESTING

Do you have a valid driving license? Do you want to test your capabilities on a tight, twisty track?

Join us on Sat 26th Oct at Ardeer for the Scottish Sporting Car Club Autotest!

What is Autotesting?
Autotesting involves driving a car around a series of tests, usually defined by traffic cones, to measure driving precision and skill. The cars complete each test one at a time, racing against the clock. There are several different classes to suit your little 1L Nissan Micra right up to hypercharged Skylines! The driver who completes the test in the shortest amount of time is crowned the champion...

NEXT EVENT - Saturday 26th October 2019 (closing date 22/10/19)
Sign on from - 9.30am
First test starts at - 10.30am
Approx finishing time - 4.30pm
Location - Irvine Bay Events, Ardeer, Ayrshire, KA20 3NF

Exciting news coming from Knockhill who will host a major rally spectacular to celebrate 25th anniversary of Colin McRae’s 1995 World Rally Championship – September 26th / 27th 2020



Preview launch at Knockhill Touring Cars on Saturday 14th September 2019



The weekend of 26th / 27th September 2020 will see all of Scotland and British rallying gearing up for the biggest celebration since Colin McRae became Britain’s first World Rally Champion in 1995. Next year will have been 25 years since their victory celebrations rocked the British rally scene taking it to new world class levels. Centre stage this time is Knockhill Circuit in Fife as Knockhill hosts the 2nd invitational “McRae Rally Challenge”.



The ‘McRae Rally Challenge’ will incorporate a huge variety of attractions, combining static displays with dramatic on-stage rally action and other rally entertainment. Rally event organisers are already working hard on the format for this special invitational event which will feature a single venue rally, part of which may venture off site for the first time to nearby forests (tbc), a Junior rally event, a Fans Forum preceding the event on the Friday evening, a commemorative dinner on the Saturday evening as well as a galaxy of rally legends all attending to pay tribute to not only Colin’s successes, but his father Jimmy McRae’s career winning 5 British Rally Championships and brother Alister McRae’s Scottish, British and Asia Pacific Rally Championship successes too.



Highlight will undoubtedly be a parade of ‘Colin’s Cars’ as organisers are reaching out to owners to gather the biggest collection of competition cars ever seen in Scotland which have been driven by the 1995 world champion during his meteoric career. The whole event promises to provide a nerve-jangling, ear-tingling, memory jogging exercise in rallying nostalgia. In other words an event not to be missed by rally fans across the world.



The public launch of the event will be at this years Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on 14th September at Knockhill as two of “Colin’s Cars” will be on display including the iconic L555 BAT World Championship winning Subaru Impreza.
