Again as a FGM survivor I’m using for my voice to fight for our girls and vulnerable women and I am passionately committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of survivors of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). My journey into activism began when I first learned about the profound physical and psychological impacts of FGM/C on me, women and girls around the world. This practice, which affects millions globally, is a severe violation of human rights and a significant public health issue that perpetuates gender inequality. Understanding the deep-rooted cultural traditions that sustain FGM/C, I realized that silence was no longer an option. I felt a moral and ethical obligation to use my voice to raise awareness, educate communities, and support survivors like me .FGM/C is not just an issue faced by distant communities; it is a global challenge that requires concerted efforts from all of us to eradicate. I advocate for stronger legal frameworks and the enforcement of existing laws that prohibit FGM/C. This includes lobbying for comprehensive national action plans and international agreements.
Through petitions, public forums, and direct engagement with policymakers, I push for systemic changes that protect women and girls from FGM/C.My vision is a world where no girl or woman has to endure the pain and suffering caused by FGM/C. By raising awareness, advocating for legal and policy changes, and supporting us survivors, I aim to contribute to a global movement that eradicates this harmful practice. I believe in the power of education and community engagement to foster cultural change and protect the rights of all women and girls. Ending FGM/C is not a solo endeavor—it requires collective action and solidarity. I invite you to join me in this critical fight by educating yourself and others, supporting survivor services, and advocating for policy changes.
