Some may already know that we are foster carers but for those who don’t, we are emergency and short break foster carers in our spare time.

There are many ways to foster and in our case, as we are busy with work we can only take children in on an ad-hoc basis. We look after a young child for a weekend every month to give the full time foster carers a break and then we support other carers by looking after their children for a day here and a day there as needed. We did worry that we wouldn’t be able to commit to enough time to fostering but what we have learnt is that even if you can only offer a small amount of time this is still very much appreciated. Every little helps as the saying goes!

Becoming a foster carer may feel like you’re taking a huge leap into the unknown but there is a huge amount of support from the foster carers ‘hubs’ and training from the local authority. We’ve looked after children from 4-15 years old. Each child has brought life, joy and laughter into our home and lives.

There is a fostering recruitment event on Saturday 28th September in Reading 09:30-17:30 giving an opportunity to meet other fostering families with lots of free fun for you and your children.

We have some extra tickets so if this is of interest please let us know.
