I'm the celebrant who is game for anything. I will work with you to make magic happen!
I will take the image that you've got in your head and will work with you to make magic happen by finding all about your story and you (or your loved one's life). I want to share your thoughts, ideas and dreams, and put them together to make one amazing memorable ceremony for you.

Organising a funeral can be a challenging task during a difficult time. The death of a loved one brings not only loss and grief but also admin and, often, many decisions to make.
Our easy-to-use 'Find a Funeral Celebrant' map connects you with celebrants local to you. All of which are highly trained by Humanists UK to create personal, non-religious funeral ceremonies.
I’ve been altogether too tardy but today I’ve got rid of twitter/X and moved to bluesky (which I’ll probably be equally rubbish at posting on). will find me there.

Today I’m out at the lovely Oakfield Wood Green Burial ground. It’s a quiet peaceful place and at this time of the year, the colours are fabulous!

Day (I’ve lost count) of ‘s challenge. Where do I work?
Well, I’m based in Ipswich, Suffolk, but I’m more than happy to travel. My standard fees include travel from Ipswich North as far as Kings Lynn, South as far as the M25 and West as far as Cambridge. I go as far East as Felixstowe, after that my feet get wet!
However, don’t let that put you off. I regularly take services and ceremonies further afield and my prices for doing so are very reasonable. I don’t charge any more than it costs me.
So if you think I might be the celebrant for you, give me a shout. I can quickly tell you how much I charge for travel, so don’t let it put you off!

Day3 of challenge - What is your favourite part of the job?
That one’s easy. I love the variety. No 2 ceremonies are the same. Whether it’s the memories, the clothes I’m asked to wear, the venues or the people, I love how each ceremony is something completely different.
I love that people trust me to run with things sometimes, and that sometimes they’re brave enough to say yes. Me, as I’ve said already, I love to say yes, I’m game for (almost) anything so love it when we get to do something completely different.

What a gorgeous day for a wedding, and boy what a venue. The fantastic Abbots Hall Barn Stowmarket for the wedding of the absolutely gorgeous Jess and Jack. They were keen for a ceremony to celebrate their love but not to overstimulate - I was happy to oblige!
And who says wedding flowers need to be fresh…

This week has been a week of colour. First a request from a client of the always lovely East Coast Cremations who said they knew I could bring the colour - red suit ahoy. Today, celebrating P, a man who died doing what he loved, I was asked to wear “outrageous” trousers. Mission accomplished.

Myths about Humanist Funerals
There are lots of persistent myths about Humanist Funeral Celebrations - lets try and clear some of them up for you right now.
Myth 1. You can only have a Humanist Funeral if you specifically request one. Humanist funerals are appropriate for anyone who you want to remember (or who wishes to be remembered) with a non-religious ceremony. Your funeral director will work with you to help you have the best ceremony possible - either they can help you find the perfect celebrant, or you can request your preferred on
Myth 2. Humanist funerals are just a trendy fad. Humanists UK has been providing non-religious funerals for over 120 years, however, there has been a recent upswing in people requesting Humanist funerals as religious belief has declined.
Myth 3. Humanist ceremonies just an occasional exception, there aren't many of them done at all. 53% of the population now identify as non-religious according to the 34th British Social Attitudes report, and we have over a million people attending our ceremonies every year. They are quickly becoming the mainstream choice.
Myth 4. (Pay attention, this one's a doozie!) Humanist Funerals are 'Banned' from including any religious content. This is the myth I hear most often repeated back to me and it's simply not true. I've heard people say that humanist funerals can have no mention of God, and I've even had families going through songs word by word to make sure they don't mention anything religious. IT'S SIMPLY NOT TRUE!!! Religious influence is deeply embedded in all of our lives, and often non-religious people still derive comfort and have an appreciation for that. A hymn like Abide with Me might remind someone of the football, Jerusalem might be particularly meaningful for a lady who was a member of the WI. Humanist funerals absolutely can involve 'religious' content when it's relevant to the life of the person, but not as an act of collective worship.
