This is where film really shines for me 🤍
Soft light through old windows.ďż˝

Quiet moments.

One of the reasons I loved shooting this wedding on film was this setting.

Barlaston House is pure quiet elegance — symmetry, texture, space, and light that works beautifully with analogue photography. And it has the most beautiful unconsecrated church in its grounds for ceremonies.

This ceremony was photographed on film, and it’s one of my favourite parts of the whole day.

I’ve shared more about why I still choose analogue for weddings in my new blog post https://www.artoflifefilms.com/analogue-wedding-barlaston-thomas-ryan/

There is nothing quite like a champagne spray on 35mm film 🥂✨

This moment was shot mostly on analogue film at Barlaston — no screens, no previews, just trusting the light, timing, and chemistry.

The energy, the laughter, the chaos… film captures it in such a timeless way in my opinion.

I’ve just published a blog post all about shooting this wedding on film — the process, the kit, and why I still love working this way.

Read it if you'd like to know more (link in bio)

Would you consider having part of your wedding shot on film? 🤍

Hi everyone — I just wanted to share what’s been going on behind the scenes.

My professional Instagram account was suddenly disabled without warning, shortly after Meta admitted that disabling my Facebook account was a mistake. I’ve tried to appeal, verified my identity, and done everything I can — but so far, I haven’t had any success.

To make matters worse, I can’t even download my content or see why the account was taken down. I’m doing my best to fight it, and I’m not giving up… but for now, I’m locked out of years of creative and professional work. 💔

If you want to keep up with me while this is being sorted, you can find me here:

If you’re on Facebook or Instagram, you can help by reporting the problem to Meta.

I want to report a disabled account that I believe was removed in error. The account is and belongs to a professional wedding videographer and photographer I follow.

Even a few people reporting this may help me get this reviewed by a human instead of being shut down by AI

I've never had a problem filming or photographing in a church, and I always contact the church in advance of going to a wedding, to introduce myself, and to gauge if there might be a problem, but I'm always apprehensive that one day I might not be so lucky. So I'm signing this in solidarity with fellow photographers and videographers so we can always feel we are able to work for our couples in the best way possible.

Improve working conditions for wedding video/photographers in churches

I had a lot of fun meeting up with other photographers at The Barbican—we met up partly to finally meet up after connecting during Covid-19 lockdown, and also to take pictures of each other. Normally I'm too busy on the other side of the camera so I rarely get pictures of me, but I'm really happy with these from Alistair Veryard Photography Which one(s) do you think I should I put on my website?

A is for adaptable…

I love to chat to couples about their wedding day and find out what they’re like —so we get to know each other and find out what and who’s important to you. If there’s a shot you particularly want, I’ll do my best to get this. I don’t want to miss anything from your wedding, so if you’re having fireworks, special dancing, I can stay around to capture that.

I’m also flexible in what I can shoot for you - whether it’s film, digital photography or analogue photography—you can choose just one or mix and match up—it’s your day!

I'm very happy to announce I've been selected as an Analogue Wonderland ambassador, so to celebrate, here is one of my photos that was developed and scanned by them (oh and the film came from them too). It was taken on an old Nikon Fm2n, of Jade and Dom at Gosfield Hall, in the ballroom where they had their reception. Happy Valentine's to them!

I shoot video and digital but I have a soft spot for film photography. When I open up my folder I'm almost not breathing, and then I'm always a little bit stunned by the results. It's just like—so WOW.

Keep your eyes peeled as I'll be pushing out more film content out. I love taking both digital and film as well so you can see the difference. I shoot with a mix of 'cheap as chips' point and shoot cameras and medium format. If you're thinking about trying out film, I definitely recommend it!

Step inside Mount Ephraim's elegant mansion—the staircase steals the show for a dreamy wedding setting! I'm currently in the process of redoing and updating my website, and rediscovering some of my favourite photos and video stills. This one is from Georgia and Jon's wedding at the stunning Mount Ephraim in Kent. Such a beautiful couple and such a fun, romantic and elegant wedding.

A little throwback to the gorgeous dreamy gardens at Badminton House where I was last summer. 🌿💫 From romantic photography spots like this secluded spot near the main house and the swimming pool, to the vibrant walled garden, every step takes your breath away. If you're planning a wedding in this garden paradise, I'd love to capture your special day. 💍📸

I’m finally getting around to catching up on my social media stuff and here’s one of my favourite weddings from the summer, shot entirely on 35mm and 120 analogue film cameras! I couldn’t decide which my favourite photos were so here are 7 at random, but check out more in my blog post about this gorgeous wedding at Ardington House. It’s a dreamy wedding location.

The aesthetics, the story, and the feels are so important in wedding videos and photos, but technical ability is so important too—being able to capture great multicam footage, clear sound, or to know how to get the 'look'. So I made it part of one of the 7 reasons why you might hire me for your wedding or event!

Badminton Estate: just one of the most gorgeous places in the UK... not only can you get married there, you can just visit... and very soon they have their last open day of the year. I went to the last one and this is one of my photos from that day. They're also a wedding venue, and if you're interested in seeing and finding out more about what it was like when I went there, check out my blog post (link in bio)

Visit on Sunday 3rd September, 10am-4pm, you can pre-book via their website: www.badmintonestate.com. When I went they had food (delicious sausage rolls) and plant stalls as well as cream teas served in the Badminton Old Kitchen.
