This was the first ‘complete’ room and whilst it might be a tiny room (2x2.5) it definitely delivers all we need. We do wish we had a walk in shower but a bath was so important for Ralph! We also picked up a few skills along the way and now quite enjoy tiling!

Okay, so these aren’t quite before and afters but they are progress shots.

From asbestos flooring to a chimney breast that needed rebuilding. From the moment the plaster in this room dried, the walls were painted and the flooring was laid. Lots of late nights after work and grandparents looking after Ralph.

Just a few things that have been playing on my mind recently.

I recognise the privileged position I am in to have a child and to be renovating but it can be so hard.

These n**e wreaths have been such a delight to make. I was so unsure when I first selected the ingredients but am so glad I just went with it. I haven't listed them on my shop yet but will be doing so imminently as they make perfect little gifts. What do you think?

It's Friday and what a week! Fingers crossed the sun will make an appearance this weekend.

The bouquet is a flashback to Emma and Mike's wedding in June of this year.

***W R E A T H W O R K S H O P S***

They are here! I know that it may seem slightly early to be thinking about Christmas (gulp) but it always amazes me how quickly it comes around. Plus, I'm a super keen bean! So this year it is not going to catch me off guard!

For anyone who has attended my workshops before, you know how much I love running them and it is such a pleasure to be collaborating with so many amazing venues this year!

Each workshop has a slightly different offering so please read the details carefully (there is a 'read more' button). Further, these workshops are in different locations around Somerset, so please do make sure you look at the addresses.

To book, head to the 'SHOP' on my website (link in bio)

I know it might be early and I promise I won't mention the C word too much... but I have to be honest, I flipping love autumn, winter and CHRISTMAS!

Today is a big day, first day of the new job (a good cocktail of excitement and fear), the prep begins for two wonderful weddings AND wreath workshops will be launched this evening!

And it is finally the beginning of my favourite time of year (perhaps an unpopular opinions).

These little corsages were such fun to make. It was nice to revisit old skills.

The flowers for tomorrow's wedding are now conditioning, ready for me to turn them into bouquets and buttonholes later. I just love personal flowers.

Growing this year has been challenging. Like many people in the wedding industry, last year I excitedly looked forward to the growing season of 2021. Despite getting off to a great start with heaps of enthusiasm and strong seedlings, the weather didn't quite get the memo and without a poly tunnel this is a problem. April saw a record number of frosts, May saw so much rain I lost many tubers and it was only in June that it finally warmed up. For many young plants and seedlings this was a little too late for them to get into stride for the season to begin properly at the beginning of July. Fast forward to August, a lack of sun has meant that the final stage of blooming has been slowed. Needless to say, the changing climate is a concern.

Whilst this has been challenging and VERY expensive, these 'failures' have made me stop and take stock of what has and has not worked. Yes, it has been disheartening at times and my profit margins which were slim to begin, are now basically non-existent because I'm having to effectively buy stock twice over now (something you don't factor into your pricing up to a year before) I have learnt more this year than in the other three years of growing. Whilst growing success is, for obvious reasons, ideal- the learning that comes through failure, to me, is the best and most enduring type of learning.

Basically, if you have been feeling disheartened by this year failure is humbling and should not be seen as the end game.

Our story

Sophie is the founder and creative behind the foraged flower co., based in the heart of beautiful Somerset.

After lecturing for a number of years Sophie attended formal floristry training and finally decided to establish the foraged flower co. in 2018.

Due to her passion for British grown flowers, Sophie has just acquired an allotment with which she is experimenting so that she can create unique arrangements made from her own flowers.

For more on how I (Sophie) founded The Foraged Flower Co., please read my blog post https://www.theforagedflowerco.co.uk/blog-1/humble-beginnings
