Land's End

I think it's a fitting time to re-post this beauty of a shot from magic in the skies back in 2018!
Last week I started my new job as the notorious signpost photographer haha.
Could be worse places to be doing a little bit of part-time work though! I've got another shot planned for these fireworks this year, I've tried it before and struggled but I'm still hopeful to make it work one way or another 🙂

A very unusual sunset at Land's End Landmark tonight but spectacular. Skies are clearing for our last show of the season and we're ready to add some magic to them. Thanks to all the staff and management here, and thanks to all the fantastic crowds we've had. The big applause at the end of a each show makes a big difference to morale when we're here in the rain clearing up.

Magic in the Skies

Every summer we have the Land's End fireworks twice a week which always pose a great challenge for me.
They're not the biggest display in the world but the location in which they are fired definitely makes up for it...
However they're been photographed a thousand times and every year I try and find a "new angle" to put out there. This year was a proper struggle trying one new location a few times but was unable to get a result I am happy with so that one will have to wait... However on the last night I clambered down the cliff in the dark to get myself at water level for this shot which I've been thinking of for a few years and I was so happy that it came together with the last opportunity for the next 11 or so months!

Sorry to say tonight's Magic in Skies has been cancelled. The exceptional weather means the fire risk is off the charts and we and the team at Lands End have mutually agreed, as usual, safety is always paramount.

We've been back at landsend for a few weeks now. It's a brand new show with brand new music and a brand new display and we're super proud of it. If we've not been keeping up with our socials it's because we've been busy bees taking extra care not to cause fires on the bone dry grounds. Extra time is taken to position and move the display so we have control of our embers and ash. The landsend staff are on standby with firefighting equipment as are the local firefighters from St Just. We hope you're safely enjoying the weather whereever you are.

What a fantastic summer we have had here at the Westernmost point of Cornwall!

And there's one last opportunity to join the fun tomorrow with our Live Music and Firework Finale. 🎶🎆

We'll be joined by JollyRoger Band, Boundless Brothers, and Motown Pirates - it's going to be a fantastic day! 👍

We highly recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment if our car park should become full.

Unfortunately, due to the severe amber weather warning issued by the Met Office - It is with our deepest regrets that we have to cancel tonights Magic in the Skies - live music and firework display.

We appreciate that this cancellation will cause disappointment, and we hope that you rejoin us next Tuesday.
