Looking for something a bit slimmer….?

This is the second year we are selling Silver Firs! They are a low needle drop tree, they smell lovely and they are a bit slimmer than Nordman Firs!
But be quick! Last year they sold out fast!!

Tulips are in! Sprinkled with chilli 🌶️ flakes hopefully to stop the 🐀 eating my bulbs I lost a lot last year.
We also had our 1st frost over the weekend. Which I’m happy about it means I can start to sort the beds out for next spring, after wreath workshops though!

ORACH or its latin name ….Atriplex hortensis, I bloody love the stuff! Also known as mountain spinach, often grown as an alternative to spinach as it grows well in the summer months, but I grow it for it’s amazing seed heads. In my garden it grows to over 8 foot it looks amazing and it has a great vase life. An all round great plant, is a member of the amaranth family.
Ps It will self seed but I love this aspect of it! I have 4 colours of not that clear in the photos.

I love an orange flower! But then i love an apricot one a pale pink in fact I’m passionate about flowers !
Just as well as I grow many varieties all without the use of harmful pesticides and nasty chemicals. The pollinators certainly love my flowers.
My flowers are available by the stem, bunch or bucket.

Another grey wet weekend ahead at the dahlias are cheerfully doing their thing. I love this peachy apricot yellow vibe. It certainly cheers up a wet August Saturday morning that feels more like November than August.
I’ll be posting more dahlias over the weekend.

I’ve had a few new followers recently so thought I should show my face! I’m on the right photographed with my flower friend Jo we’d just spent a heavenly morning flower school using all Dorset grown flowers, grown by us!
We are both local to each other. We both grow flowers and it’s fab to have someone that understands the whole process.
Growing flowers in the uk is challenging to say the least,
A cold wet spring, a month of no rain and now wind and rain. I do love the challenges and when you succeed it does feel like a huge win, sense of achievement.

Nigella, love-in-a-mist or devil in a bush! What do you call it?
So much detail in this flower that will self seed everywhere.
The flowers are fairly fleeting in the vase but you are then left with the amazing seed pods that dry well as well.

Can we take a moment and give these nasturtiums some love!
I thought they deserved a place on my grid!
Their flowers, leaves and green seed pods can all be eaten! The green seed pods if put in vinegar can be used as a replacement for capers. The leaves can make a peppery pesto.
Plus their leaves remind me of dinosaurs footprints!
Do you like them or grow them?
These varieties are Alaska, Bloody Mary and Ladybird Rose.

I love flowers! This is the 1st time I’ve grown pansies from seed and just look at these beauties, I’m hoping for a little longer stem length but they would be perfect for bud vases. It’s called chianti mix from

Bank Holiday Monday….. yay what are you all doing with your day? I’m planting out and then doing the green house cold frame juggle to make space for yet more seeds. The juggle is real! 🤣

Today I took a different route home and saw a beaten up sign with Daffs on, I went to investigate and met Robert who is in his early 80’s and has been growing daffodils for 50 years, lots of different varieties that he dug up and moved from his parents house 50 years ago. These have bought me so much pleasure on such a grey cold day. A fabulous discovery.

It will soon be ranunculus time! There are some budding in the green house. Some under their caterpillar tunnels (low plastic tunnels) and the last lot just sprouting in the plastic zippy green house that’s if they haven’t frozen.
Ranunculus are divas but so worth the attention if they had a scent they would be perfection. They come in an array of colours and are so welcome after the winter. Plus they have the most amazing vase life. They are a win win flower!
