Lovely feedback from my bride last weekend whose young son threw balls into the buckets throughout the ceremony:
'I just wanted to say thank you so much for being our Celebrant on Saturday! Lots of people commented on how perfect you were and I completely agree. Thank you for just going with the flow of the kids being kids and me being incredibly distracted by them. I thought I would hate the ceremony bit, being up there in front of everyone, but because of the atmosphere, the kids, and you, I actually really enjoyed it and it is one of my favourite memories from the day. Interestingly, I also had a lot of people asking about humanism and them then having the realisation that they would identify as a humanist, but hadn't known there was a word for it!
I will recommend you to anyone looking for a celebrant.'

Lovely wedding last week at Davenport House - a gothic theme including candles, handfasting, jumping a broom, bridesmaids in gorgeous dark green and a deep black wedding cake.

Lovely naming ceremony at the weekend on baby's first birthday. Everyone was invited to add their thumbprint and name to the keepsake so that later he can look back and see who his family and friends were right back at the start.

Happy new year! Congratulations to anyone who got engaged over the festive season, what a lovely way to start the year. Here are some lovely lanterns that a bride, groom, me and a trainee strung up last summer before their wedding ceremony - don't forget you can celebrate your way, large or small, fancy or DIY - as long as you and your loved ones are there it will always be special.

It stopped raining for just long enough for Saturday's wedding to take place outside as intended. The ceremony started with a choreographed bubble parade by the younger boys of the family, and finished with a handfasting assisted by the couple's sisters and daughter. I love it when the family get involved.

A lovely wedding the other week, and my third celebrant visit to the Cider Barn in Pembridge. The weather meant we didn't do an outdoors ceremony in the end as the wind, if not the rain, would have made it uncomfortable all round. Luckily they have a new indoor ceremony space to use. They are a lovely team and it is always nice to be there.

Wow, it's been a busy time for ceremonies, with either a naming or a wedding every Saturday for weeks! Yesterday I named baby Jesse, almost five years to the day since I named his older sister in the same venue; I was so touched to be invited back and see them all again. The family asked everyone to contribute some advice for Jesse to put into a bottle that he can open on his 18th birthday - a lovely idea for a naming.

What a lovely spot for my first wedding of the season! Back at magical Plas Dinam yesterday, and the sun was shining for us (although last time I was there it rained and I have to say it was still gorgeous). We had a whippet bridesmaid and a surprise Martine McCutcheon singalong, and at the end the bride's sister said that she'd never been to one before but without a doubt if she ever gets married, it would be a humanist ceremony all the way.

Back at my desk and looking forward to another year of beautiful ceremonies. Looking back over some of the lovely moments from last year - ceremonies in fields, gardens, barns and more. What a gift my work is. Last year's busiest month was September, but this year it is May. Can't wait!

What a spectacular venue for my final wedding of the year! Beautiful Hampton Court Castle in north Herefordshire. So atmospheric arriving in the dark for the rehearsal, before the big day.

Such a busy summer! Look at this gorgeous setting for a qedding: the groom and his sons arrived by kayak to great applause by all their guests before the bride was escorted on foot to join them.

I've been writing a lot of ceremonies lately, which means I've been asking loads of nosy questions. I always love hearing how people met, and am always amazed at the variety - I've heard of people meeting online, at work, through friends, having to do a presentation together at university, at a party they didn't want to go to, at an old tin mine, outside a bar, and in a McDonald's car park. Love can strike anywhere!

Lovely email from one of my summer couples today: We just wanted to email to say thank you again for the ceremony on Friday - we had an amazing day, and the ceremony was perfect. Thank you for making it so personal, for keeping us calm on the day and delivering it with such warmth! Obviously it was special to us, but lots of our friends and family have since commented on how nice it was too. We're very grateful to you.

Another beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Cider Barn in Pembridge on Saturday. Deep into wedding season, I have two more weddings this week, and two more wedding meetings, not to mention lots of bespoke ceremonies to write.
