WE’RE OPEN ONLINE but the shop is closed tomorrow..you can order online to collect on Monday or for local delivery..
We’ll be open again on Monday morning until lunchtime for collections and will be delivering your orders.
The shop and online shop will close at 1pm.

I CAN PREDICT WITHIN AN INCH how December goes in the shop..this year I was blown off course..after 20 years there was a distinct shift in door wreath buying..you caught me totally off guard and went a week early. Who knows why..but you’ll not catch me out again!! Setting my alarm for July!!

We sold out in double quick time and are now concentrating on simpler more modest & befitting wreaths to put on the graves & headstones of loved ones no longer with us.

THE SHOP’S LOOKING AMAZING..too busy to take pics, forgetting things..most of all to drink..anything. It got to 4pm today and I thought hmmm 🤔 think I deserve a coffee with a little bit of baileys..I took a sip..it was delicious, even better - there were no festive sprinkles (this is a good thing - florist friends you’ll know what I mean!) I then spilt the whole lot over the workroom bench..I’ll admit, I actually did cry a little bit, not over spilt baileys in coffee, but my Alexa blew up!

Tomorrow’s another day..a big day for flowers - the forecast is good..get yourselves in (or order online - I promise there won’t be sticky coffee/baileys residue on your bouquets!)

JUST POPPING IN A PIECE OF FINE ART.. the wonder of our natural world, only available in winter.

Despite moaning about the cold, the wind, the rain, the snow, the sun, the humidity, I could never live anywhere where there are no seasons..anywhere in Europe would be ok..specifically Sardinia!!

IT’S THE CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN..no idea what day or date it is but I know we’re about to step up another gear. My favourite week of the year - it’s all about the flowers, the table decs & the gifts this coming week and we’re ready!
We’ve got something for everyone - I don’t expect to see anyone leave the shop unladen next week and if anyone tries to test that theory then just don’t look at my face!!😂

I had a customer come in this week saying ‘you’re lucky, I was going to go to [*******/multi million pound business] but I needed some milk so I came to Boston Spa.’
Actually YOU’RE lucky, I love my job, I give you the time and attention you need, I ask about you, you walk out happy & I feel proud.
So 2 local businesses won, Neil sold some milk and I got enough to pay an invoice..now that’s festive cheer!

Pretty please shop local, it means the absolute world to us.

EVERY ONE OF OUR LUXURY door wreaths is unique, hand made from scratch with sustainability in mind. They’ll outlast Christmas and new year so I reckon are pretty good value for money..oh, and they look flipping amazing as well!

TO SAY I’VE BEEN CAUGHT OFF GUARD is an understatement. It’s 6th December and I’m usually rolling into December partying around deciding how to decorate the door wreaths - at the start of the season there’s an abundance of choice and so much so I struggle to decide what to put in even the first one!

As the week started it became frighteningly apparent the world had gone early and I’ve been left overwhelmed with the number of door wreaths made, sold and are now adorning over 50 local doors! Thank you everyone for loving my wreaths and loving and needing to feel festive (earlier than I expected)🎄

Note for next year’s calendar..big red flag & warning alarm at least two weeks earlier to get off my unusually lackadaisical backside and get ahead of the pre-December rush for door decorating!

Here’s a selection of gorgeously decorated doors - whether huge & stately, pretty as a picture or funky & fun.

I’VE HAD BAD KARMA for nearly a week so I’m hoping my charitable endeavours will earn me a break!

The week started with decorating the Grain Shed at the wonderful Normans wedding venue in a quirkily festive fashion for the Hog & Apple tasting event.

Followed very swiftly by supporting Vix at a wreath workshop in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research, she didn’t really need my help, she’s beyond capable and pretty flipping good at demonstrating! I was more than happy to be on wiring duty & general help!

A raft of door wreaths then went out to adorn the doors of those I really appreciate!

Here endeth my December charity and with it hopefully my crappy Karma!!

THERE’S NO WAY November has nearly gone..I’m obviously time travelling again!As the countdown begins, here’s a whirlwind selection of our festive offerings - all available to order online in the shop or over the phone. Either for local delivery or collection in the shop.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TODAY is ignore the weather, get wrapped up and enjoy Boston Spa, do a bit of Christmas shopping, have a hot drink and lunch/brunch and buy a bunch of flowers, then make a snowman!

Saves you having your drive anywhere today..and why would you in these conditions! ☔️❄️⛄️

TODAY’S PRIORITY JOB, not in the diary, but dictated by the weather conditions, is get the dahlias cut and mulched..you know I’m panicking..it’s my first year not lifting..I suppose the worst that can happen is they rot and don’t come back and I end up having the buy the leftover dregs from the suppliers 🤣.. Mother Nature please be kind 🙏

ONE THING I WISH I HAD at Christmas is a ruddy massive fireplace and an equally huge mantelpiece to decorate (in my spare time..florist friends..hilarious right??!!). It would be rammed with evergreen foliage and lovely natural hanging things and lots of candles..I think 🤔

I have such Christmas mantlepiece envy..let’s see yours..pleeese!

In the meantime here’s an, actually quite gorgeous, ceramic tea light house (available to buy!!..other sizes available) that I’ve managed to squeeze onto my very tiny fireplace without mantle!!

PS (not selling myself very well here) I can create my (sorry, your!) dream mantelpiece in your home..please do get in touch before my wheels come off with busyness.

IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR when we start madly collecting & sourcing everything we’ll need for the Christmas count down (it appears to have already started so I’m not going to be left behind, despite my reluctance to introduce any red to my posts yet!).

The stuff we need to make and create at the shop is mind boggling. One year I may make a list rather than winging it..you’d have thought my love for lists would have included the myriad of bits and pieces needed for the festive period..I guess after 20 years at the shop it’s so ingrained I maybe don’t need to. Not just that but styles & fashion change and I can definitely say I’m not designing the same door wreaths, decorations and bouquets I was back in the early naughties..

Despite the marathon that is Christmas in a flower shop (notwithstanding the daily baileys in the afternoon coffee to keep us going or the dark room required by Christmas Eve and the hand and nail therapy) it really is my favourite time in the shop..I have creative carte blanche and the design juices explode into a winter wonderland of festive creativity!

I CAN UNDERSTAND YOU MAY BE FINDING the pics on my posts a little muted..I’m just not quite ready to go full on with bright Christmas red yet..it’s a long 6 weeks in a florist’s world (my flowery friends know exactly what I mean) and that’s a lot of red 24/7 (There is some festive cheer if you keep reading though!)…
.and actually, the leaves are still on the trees, the grass is juuuuust about still growing, the dahlias are still providing in , the rodents (the farmer’s weather vane) are starting to head out of the fields (but they won’t get my tulips this year..they’re in crates planted with garlic, surrounded with razor wire sprayed with peppermint oil!!), I haven’t worn a coat yet, we haven’t had a frost yet or morning mist…so there’s absolutely no way I’m heading to festive land. Call it a rubbish business plan for not jumping headlong onto the Christmas train..I prefer to be organic, authentic and work at my own soft coloured pace!
