If you love everything vintage (as we do) you’ll understand how difficult it’s going to be to pass on items we’ve sourced, collected, cherished and polished! We’ll be keeping some favourites but it’s time to pass on some beautiful items to others to enjoy.

If you’re in the process of opening a vintage tea room or business then please get in touch. We have many authentic vintage tea sets as well as cutlery and glassware waiting to impress your customers.

I want to say a big, big ‘thank you’ to all of the customers who have made us smile over the last five years. 2023 was a great year for weddings and our season ended with our biggest wedding to date with 94 guests enjoying a spectacular vintage style Afternoon Tea in Rugeley. We have loved contributing to your special days. The weddings, festivals, baby showers, birthday parties and Mothers’ Day celebrations have all been memorable and we thank you for your positive feedback and wonderful photos.

If you’d like a chat about our small business or the stock that’s available please let me know. At the moment it’s all stored as mismatched but I’ll be sorting it into sets over the spring/summer and will be popping it on to our social media. If you’d like to buy a favourite or memorable item that you previously hired from us then please challenge me to find it! A photo will be helpful! Hirers have often asked if I’d be interested in selling their favourite teapot, cup & saucer or tiered cake stand and now I can say yes!

You may have noticed that we started to sell a few items before Christmas? We were delighted to sell our 1949 vintage Raleigh bicycle to the first viewer. A gentleman from South Wales bought it and is taking ‘her’ to his villa in Sicily. What a great retirement location for a 75 year old...

'Posh' Jammy Dodgers recipe, delicious 🥄
08/10/2023

'Posh' Jammy Dodgers recipe, delicious 🥄

My version of the commercial Jammie Dodger biscuits made by Burton’s Foods, but just a bit "posher".
I have added a generous slug of vanilla extract and used my own home-made raspberry jam in these, as well as cutting them out to look like daisies.
Perfect for any tea party or for a special occasion such as Birthday parties.

(Makes 24)

INGREDIENTS
* 250g butter, softened
* 150g caster sugar
* 1 free-range egg yolk
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 300g plain flour
* 6 tbsp raspberry jam (or jam of your choice)
BISCUIT/COOKIE CUTTERS
* 6cm fluted/flower cutter and a 1.5cm (just over ½in) plain round cutter

DIRECTIONS
Step 1 Line 2 baking trays lined with baking paper. Pre-heat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4.
Step 2 Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat in the egg yolk and the vanilla extract. Add the flour and mix in well, using your hands if necessary to make sure it’s all mixed well. Knead gently on a lightly floured surface, then divide into two pieces and form each piece into a ball. Wrap them both in cling film and chill for about half an hour.
Step 3 Remove the dough, and then scatter a little plain flour over a board or clean work surface; roll out one ball of pastry to the thickness of a £1 coin. Using a flower or fluted cutter, cut out as many biscuits as you can. Lightly knead the trimmings together and roll them out again. Once the shapes have all been cut out, then carefully place the biscuits/cookies on a baking sheet, making sure you keep them slightly apart as they spread when baking.
Step 4 Continue cutting out the shapes with the second ball of dough, and then cut out a small circle in the centre of each biscuit using a small biscuit/cookie cutter or using a small water glass.
Step 5 Bake the biscuits for 20 to 25 minutes or until firm and just golden. Remove them from the oven and place them on a cooling rack to cool completely – being careful when you take them off the baking tray as they are fragile and they can crack. Place a teaspoon of jam onto the centre of each biscuit that does NOT have the circle stamped out. Sandwich all the biscuits together with the jam.

It's never easy parting with stock items that have memories attached to them but it's made much easier when the buyer really, really wants them and buys extras too! Our Shepherd's Crooks and hanging jam jars will be recycled and reused and I get more shelf space for my vintage china, so it's win, win!

If you're interested in owning a few props to hire out, share with friends or to style your home then please get in touch and I'll let you know what will be available over the coming months 🍂
