I finally took a trip up Claverton Hill to visit the American Museum - and I'm really glad I did!
The 125-acre site is spectacular, with plenty of private corners full of interest.

I recently enjoyed a visit to the fabulous Chalk Barn, near Devizes.
From the moment you catch the teasing glimpse of its roof as you climb the hill, Chalk Barn starts to draw you in to its private world.
As you step out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you're met with the big sky, wide horizon and stunning views over the Wiltshire Countryside.
Chalk is surrounded by organic farmland, giving it a real sense of seclusion and exclusivity.
This sustainable venue is purpose-built for exclusive use. In good weather, there are wide glass doors that draw back at the front and side of the barn, to let the outside in.
It's an area teaming with wildlife. On my visit, I saw red kites and baby hares making themselves right at home!
The terrace is a beautiful, flexible space to enjoy an unhurried, tailor-made, celebrant-led (🙋🏼♀️) ceremony. Plus there is the fire pit area for wedding parties to use to hang out.
During colder, wetter months, the barn remains a place of beauty, with its magnificant vaulted ceiling and stunning lighting.

I slipped gently into Georgian splendour today when I visited the historic Hartham Park estate, just north of Corsham in Wiltshire.
Its rich history includes a number of visits by Winston Churchill and a base for military personnel during the second world war. The exquisite event rooms in the mansion house have been renovated sympathetically to reflect its illustrious past.
Its elegant and serene vibe makes for a perfect countryside wedding venue. With room to stay, space to prepare for your wedding at your leisure and enough privacy for the most boisterous of guests to enjoy letting their hair down, this venue is certainly one to see.
