RUPERT BLACK

We are devastated to announce the loss of our dearest friend Rupert who passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at home on Monday of this week. Rupert was a modest, witty and supremely talented musician who had every right to blow his own trumpet, but he never did. He was someone who had ‘made it’ in the music industry and his credits are long and illustrious, particularly if you are of a certain vintage. He toured and performed with the Pretenders for nearly a decade (including playing Live Aid in Philadelphia), toured extensively with The Alarm, was the go-to keyboards guy for Talk Talk, Midge Ure solo tours, performed with Alison Moyet, recorded with Paulo Nutini and many many more. He even played for Rocky Sharp and the Replays!

I remember his first rehearsal with Big Vern n the Shootahs. He walked in to the Argyle Studios in Glasgow and busked along with some things we were working on that Monday night. We had no idea of his background but he instantly fitted like a glove and blew us away with his talent. We immediately asked if he would join us and we were so glad he said yes. That was 20+ years ago and he’s been our musical brother and friend ever since. He was warm, clever and generous, just like his music.

We are all feeling collectively numb right now. We were privileged to have shared the stage with this gentlemen over many years and had tremendous laughs and great times, particularly over a pint of real ale in the snug of a bar somewhere.

He recently became a grandfather for the first time which gave him so much joy. His untimely passing has been so unfair to Nina, Alex and baby Theo .

Rupert’s talent has given so much joy to so many many audiences around the world for over forty years. We are proud to have known him and performed with him and to call him our friend.

We miss you so much dear chap, rest in peace Rupert. ######x

‪Do you know what you were doing on the 13th July 1985? We cannot believe that Live Aid was 35 years ago!
Do you remember watching it?‬

For anyone going to HFAL soon

We are in uncertain times at the moment due to COVID-19 and while there is just cause for concern we wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that we are operating “Business as usual” as much as possible and intend to fulfill bookings and reservations.

That said the health and safety of our guests and team members continues to be our top priority and we wanted to take a moment in order to reassure you of the measures in place:

> We have enforced guidelines as set out by WHO and NHS Scotland and will continue to monitor this as things change
> Ample hand wash facilities throughout the venue with antibacterial soaps
> We are asking guests to please dispose/ take away any personal tissues or wipes they may have used
> All public areas and touch points are being sanitised throughout the day
> All our crockery, glassware, bottles and cutlery are cleaned thoroughly and always over the recommended 80°
> If however you are felling unwell or have developed a new cough perhaps its best to reconsider your plans

We are likely to be in an ever changing situation in the coming days and weeks but rest assured that we are working hard to limit any disruption and minimise it's impact. If you have any questions regarding the situation, or are feeling unsure of how it may affect your booking, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Most importantly please keep positive and ensure that you are taking that little bit of extra care and caution needed at the moment. 💜
